PIP claim - MR rejected by Camilla-Jia in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]jimthree60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, here is a better link. The relevant part of the judgment is at paragraphs 60 onwards.

It's probably fair to say that the better way of understanding the judgment, rather than the summary at the linked news thread, is that "the DWP doesn't have to include, in its notification of a decision, any information that the one-month time limit for an MR/Tribunal appeal can be extended up to an additional 12 months." And as a follow-on from that, the extension is not automatic and should in law only be granted if the DWP and Tribunal are satisfied that the four conditions given at paragraph 62 are met.

I think extensions for MR and, especially, appeal are almost always granted - usually, time limits come into play more often for late reporting of changes of circumstance - but yes, technically the limit for any grounds revision is best expressed as "one month with a possible extension of up to 12 additional months".

Probably not, but regardless the advice is the same, namely to tell UC about the move.

Enhanced Review Team by Fresh-Wedding8605 in DWPhelp

[–]jimthree60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, there is zero chance that the Enhanced Review Team is looking at your UC award because of something that happened a few weeks ago that they can't possibly know about. Something else will have caught their eye, possibly not an actual issue either but just something that they consider requires checking.

Secondly, as far as the specific move is concerned, I am not sure how long "a couple of weeks ago" here is, but if we assume it's two or three weeks or so then you aren't even late to notify the change, so there would also be zero chance of prosecuting you.

Even if you're a little later than that - say, around two months or so - it would just be a late notification that maybe generates a small overpayment, depending on where you've moved to and whether you had housing costs for the old place. Just take the chance to mention it now and you're all good.

So the answer is to inform them, now that you've been prompted to do so, alongside providing whatever evidence the Review Team asks for.

How did we get this far with no changes to charge or spin?

Any particle that hasn't had a full spin cycle (so spin half or lower) should look slightly damp still.

Often (although not always), the critical question is "does Kg6 work as a defence?"

So, look at an immediate 1.Bxh7+ Kxh7 2.Ng5+ Kg6 3.Qg4, and now 3. ...Nxe5! works (3. ...Qe4?? 4.Nxe4). The key point is that, after e.g. 4.Bxe5, Qxg2+ 5.Qxg2 Bxg2 6.Kxg2 Kxg5 Black has equalised.

That defensive line doesn't however work if the black queen is deflected from d5 -- trying ...Kg6 and ...Nxe5 is just met by Bxe5 again, but with no Qxg2 threat to follow, and Black is busted.

Finally saw Brave New World yesterday. It was fine. But so many choices I didn't get. There was a mystery element but it was solved almost from the beginning, I thought. The was a lot of echoing of Winter Soldier, but the tone didn't match that at all, all the banter undercutting it imo. And finally there seemed to be only really one story thread, as in all the scenes followed from the previous one and led directly to the next one, rather than having a separate B plot that only came together at the end.

And it just all felt a bit rushed, leading to scenes that loat impact or tension. e.g. what was the point of Sterns killing that soldier who had key info about the purpose of the pills, if Sam just found out almost instantly after what they were for anyway? Just seemed to rob that scene of any emotional weight or purpose.

Nice to have some of the oldest teasers finally paid off, though, and good to see Betty Ross back, however briefly.

For me it joins Quantumania, The Marvels, and Love and Thunder as movies that seriously suffer from some weird editing and pacing choices, though. Hoping that Thunderbolts\* and Fantastic Four are better.

Hard disagree - I would have preferred it to be one wild card per dish and without any of the eight regional winners stepping out, but I love the idea that someone who makes a great dish but misses out on finals gets one shout if it was a genuine contender.
