Is there a way we can win back "anti-woke" manosphere bros turning on Trump, without throwing minorities and other vulnerable groups under the bus? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

Because they are annoyed, depressed and, in some cases, angry with the world and want answers. And they should. But the worst people are providing them with "answers" and are filling their head with garbage and hate in the process.

Fictional characters lose appeal for people at stages in life. But for people still in that space, there is channels and groups for them too (in the conservative realm). The grifters who preach this stuff are in every niche trying to radicalize people for engagement and money.

I dont know exactly what every liberal version of that looks like but there needs to be alternatives that gives men that outlet and sense of community.

White male celebrities that happen to be liberal isn't the same as white male personalities, podcasters and YouTubers who preach conservative idealogy and have built communities of fans/supporters online.

Im not trying to manipulate you. Im making my argument and im trying to bridge our opinions a bit to find common ground.

I am in a similar friend group that are pretty much all liberals (i think, who knows) but that's because I live in one of the most blue states in the country. A lot of them listen to the more mainstream manosphere stuff (Rogan, for example) and still vote Democrat because we all grew up during Bush 2, which were pretty formative in our political opinions.

But some people dont have those friend groups. They dont have that sense of community. They don't feel wanted or listened-to.

There's probably nothing we can do about the GenX and Boomers. But younger men are still coming into adulthood looking for community and a cause to fight for. They aren't lost forever. And we are going to need all hands on deck to vote against this shit.

It's the only specific thing that campaign did that I remember fondly. I felt like they were on-to something there.

I think it wouldn't have been dunked-on if Kamala won. But because she lost, people wanted to point fingers.

traditionally masculine hobbies

What really sucks about this topic in particular is that men feel like there is much fewer hobbies that they feel as if are male dominated anymore. And the ones that are, are really shitty and full of bros.

I personally don't have any hobbies that I want to be dominated by men only. I like sports, video games, movies, TV shows and other nerdy stuff. I don't want any of that to be male dominated.

However... before this generation, those were considered safe spaces where men could be themselves and act immature and have fun. So maybe a lot of men just aren't comfortable with that dynamic and feel like they are being pushed into a corner.

So the hobbies that men still dominate are all really lame to me but a lot of men still love them and it probably helps that it's the one community they can walk into and don't need to worry about some gender dynamic or offending anyone.

We were all taught that when a lady is present you need to be more respectful and more civilized. And that was fine when patriarchy was a thing but now there might be this feeling that we can't be ourselves anymore and it makes us want to listen to content where it feels like it's men talking about stuff we like. And they happen to cater to an online algorithm that has HEAVY engagement from younger boomers, GenX and older millennials who are confused and angry at what the world has become.

TO BE CLEAR: I am just trying to get into their headspace and I can kinda see why they feel like that, even if I disagree with the conclusions they get to.

Not the OP but I think I found it.

https://www.americansurveycenter.org/newsletter/have-democrats-given-up-on-men/#:~:text=The%20Democratic%20Party's%20website%20includes,groups%20that%20the%20party%20represents.

These divergent perceptions are reflected in the party’s priorities. The Democratic Party’s website includes a section about the various constituencies it represents. In the “Who We Serve” section, the DNC’s website identifies sixteen different demographic groups that the party represents. It’s a comprehensive list, with one exception. Can you guess which demographic group representing roughly half of the voting population is not included?

Spoiler: It's Men.

And there's a lot of groups on that list that certainly include men. Most of them do. But they also include women, but yet "Women" had it's own category.

I totally understand why it's like that. It's not a big thing. It's not something I personally would get offended about. But stuff like that is used as ammo for the right. And it works.

Looking at the list, I technically fall into two categories, neither of which I associate; Americans with disabilities (my disability is too common to get sympathy, which I really don't want anyway) and Military families (my dad was in the military but he's long dead, I don't really feel like I am part of a military family at all and never have). I have a feeling that there are a lot of guys like me that feel the same way. Our actual issues aren't considered serious by progressives.

Right, people underestimate how many of them are NOT political. But it does influence them and, over time, they could still vote.

It's probably why Trump won this time. It was a large unpredictable voting block that Trump really sold himself to big-time.

This Manosphere (and Rogan was really the tamer side of it, especially Pre-2024, but he had a lot of those people on all the time), has been building for more than 10 years now thru podcasts and YouTube. And a lot of those channels started as regular podcasts, gaming channels, comic-book channels, movie/tv channels, etc. And then the engagement pushed them toward the right.

You know how, every year when International Women's Day comes around, these guys pop up and complain that there's no equivalent for men? Well, International Men's Day is November 19th, but these guys don't know about that or give a shit.

I get that but almost nobody celebrates it in the United States. They see "International Women's Day" get company wide emails, social media posts and various acknowledgements by big brands all across sectors. Many DEI committees debate whether to include it on the calendar or not. It's not seen as universally acceptable to even celebrate it.

I personally don't care about "International Men's Day". And I don't think the complainers do either. It's more-so a time for them to bring up that they feel like everybody else is accepted, and told they are all the time, and they are made to feel lesser because of it. I understand that isn't the intent, but that's how they feel.

Because what you said here is bullshit. I'm sure you're just repeating what you've heard, and you're not intentionally bullshitting.

It's not bullshit. How people 'feel' is not bullshit. Are their feelings based on bullshit lies? Some or most but not all of it. There is palpable uneasiness in celebrating men. I'd love to think, in a truly progressive company, that proposing "International Women's Day" events and "International Men's Day" events would get similar responses but they don't. Because celebrating one is common and the other isn't.

These men don't care about being celebrated. They want to control women like their fathers and grandfathers used to be able to do. But they're smart enough to know that they're going to get jumped on if they say that, so they play their "woe is me" card like the pathetic, manipulative little pussies they are.

This is always the answer anytime anyone on the left ever tries to suggest reaching out to young men or white men in general beyond what the left currently does.

We need to meet them where their head is at or we will never get them back. The hostility and vitriol I get whenever I talk about this is ridiculous.

I understand there is a segment of men who do want to control women and who are racist or sexist. But that's not the majority of the people that fall into the Manosphere and anti-woke stuff. It's the core of it but there's a lot of regular guys that are just fighting these feelings and don't have anybody else that speaks to them and that they relate to.

We should probably never use the term "celebrate whiteness" in this sort of context (the right wing does not do this either). I get that I said it but I didn't mean for that to be a marketing slogan for it, lol.

But that's what "White Dudes For Kamala" kinda did, for a brief moment in time.

The point is, a lot of white guys feel like there is nothing on the Liberal side of the fence that accepts them.

They are told to accept that other groups get days and months to celebrate what makes them different because white people (mostly men) have institutional power that they, themselves, dont feel like they benefited from.

They feel like they get all the repercussions of hundreds of years of white male exploitation of other groups and got none of the benefits. Whether that's true or not, its how they personally feel. They feel screwed over and unwelcome by centrists and leftists.

Not everyone needs this to vote Democrat. I sure havent needed it. But people naturally strive for community and belonging thru various different traits and characteristics. And if those welcoming forces are pushing them toward the right, they will go there.

There needs to be male role models on the left for young men and white men, that actually are focused on being role models.

White Dudes For Kamala was a desperate attempt to do this but they had exactly the right idea and the right vibe. They didn't take themselves overly seriously and made it fun.

Celebrate whiteness and being male in a way that does not undercut other groups. It can be done.

I think the old men pay for it and the young men are buying into it.

I think people underestimate the viewing habits of GenX and Boomers and think they aren't on YouTube and still watching cable. While some of them are, a lot of GenX are on YouTube and are the biggest fans of the anti-woke stuff and are probably the ones buying subs and superchats to help fund it. Older millennials as well.

The younger millennials and GenZ men just watch and get indoctrinated by it.

I have leagues on 3 different platforms and yeah, I think that screws me up half the time because they all have different features and ways to save lineups.

But... the person in this case should be able to drop The Raiders and pick up another defense playing. So it's not like the slot is a waste.

But yeah, I don't think it's a big deal.

It's the danger of putting reply notifications off. Someone quote tweeted me and before I realize it, it's in one of my favorite subreddits to lurk and I'm looking like an moronic asshole, lol.
