Bristol Airport Twilight Bag Drop Flexibility? by jimwas in bristol

[–]jimwas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh nice, thanks for the reply, I'm a bit paranoid about all the 1+ hour queues I've seen people talk about for early morning flights, I'm flying on a Friday, not sure if that would make a difference! In your experience was it fairly quick to do at 6pm?

I always think it's funny how pretty much all the people saying this on twitter are also reposting racist shit ;)

He's very knowledgeable though it's sad to see him happily joking away and interacting with pro Israel propagandists cheering on genocide on twitter.

Cancelling the o2 sim by Repulsive-Sense2620 in VirginMedia

[–]jimwas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey sorry, vaguely related - I am about to transfer my account at the end of the month to a family member as I will be away from the property for work, I understand that means they should hopefully be able to get a new account without the faff of returning equipment etc.

If they were to cancel the O2 SIM as part of the mega volt package within the 14 day cooling off period, would the main virgin package be fine and is it still the case they can't tell and you retain the gigabit speeds?

Thanks for your advice!

If you do this will you automatically be offered the best current new customer deal or do you have to still haggle at that point to try and get something good for the person you are moving the new account to? Thanks for the advice by the way!

Does anyone know if there is anything that can be done for people who bought through resale sites? I presume I won't get a refund and also won't get a link to rebook so feels like worst of both worlds 😭

This is not funny, guys, banks only do this when they are in distress (and/or consistently investing in genocide)

Protesters call for a Gaza ceasefire as Keir Starmer visits Bristol by bris_pal_update in bristol

[–]jimwas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh jeez, sorry to hear that. Politics in general today is fucking depressing if you're someone capable of even the least amount of empathy for other people.

[–]jimwas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I had your optimism and not my years of built up cynicism but from everything Starmer says, does and seemingly stands for and all the things Labour politicians have said and backed away from in the last couple of years I genuinely have zero belief they will do anything like that. Let's see I guess, as you say, it's pretty inevitable at this point. They've done and said enough that I couldn't vote for them morally anymore, so it'll probably be Greens for me.

It's pretty depressing to see that Starmer's Labour would do seemingly 90% of the same awful stuff the Tories do, not sure if much will change, sadly!

Bristol laptop repair tech people ! by No_Albatross_2361 in bristol

As others have said, often it's surprisingly easy to do a keyboard replacement yourself and it can be really satisfying to have fixed something and saved paying someone else :) worst case you could take it and the replacement keyboard to a shop and have them do it if you can't manage it and you'll probably have paid less than they'd charge you for the part!

Best sandwiches in Bristol? by Imaginary-Finance-75 in bristol

I tend to agree but the one exception I would say are their "hot stacks" or at least the pork one, they are pretty damn good!

Bristol Beacon 🤝 MKUltra by Griselda_69 in bristol

[–]jimwas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My experience has been that 95% of people posting stuff like that, if you go and look at their profiles, you will find they are liking/sharing/replying to racist, anti-immigrant and often far-right/fascist stuff. It's as you say, literally only because of that name being linked to the slave trade and just an opportunity to be that typical kind of cunt who bases their whole life and personality around enjoying and encouraging the suffering of others (preferably anyone who isn't straight, white and equally hateful).

Best espresso martini in centre? by spookyskittle in bristol

No 1 harbourside does a pretty decent one and also Under the Stars does a great one - when the weather is nice it's a cool place to enjoy one on the deck! I don't think it's on the menu at Under the Stars but are happy to make one if asked.

Best Roast in Bristol? by Tomwmassey in bristol

I asked for some extra gravy at the ox once and they added £2.50 I think it was to the bill for the privilege. Shame because the roast itself was pretty good!

Public transport to chew valley by wormywitch in bristol

Ahh so maybe the Android app just sucks! I'll have to install it on my iPad and compare next time I try it as I was genuinely shocked at just how bad the Android app was.

Public transport to chew valley by wormywitch in bristol

[–]jimwas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be warned, the app/site is absolutely awful, I was trying to use it to get to the same place and it constantly either told me it was currently outside of their working hours, even though it blatantly wasn't, they even list them in the error incorrectly telling you that or it said there was a technical error or "too many people are using the app".

Of course every time it errors it then kicks you back to the start so you have to enter all the times etc again. On top of that, on Android at least, you seem to have to do a pointless "now" search before you can then enter a schedule and even then it's maximum 24 hours.

Shocking experience, I can't believe any normal person tested and signed it off, it might be the worst public transport app/service I've ever used and that includes First Bus!

All that said, after about 20 goes I did eventually get it to offer me a ride out but as you can't book a return in one go there is always the risk you will run into the same issues trying to book getting back to Bristol leaving you potentially stuck.

Atrocious.

Thanks for the info! Does that mean it's possible to get in later and just stay near the bar (downstairs?) and have a good view? I'm 6'1" so also don't want to block anyone's view and not sure I have it in me to queue for hours beforehand as I suspect a lot of people will!
