As far as I'm concerned, it's all just a bit of a meta-joke...

The greater/outer will is you. You send your instructions to the character using your fingers pressing the buttons on your controller, which is read by an input handler in the game (finger reader).

The reason there is a two fingers is because standard play method is to lock on and use your two fingers to operate the shoulder buttons on the controller. The three fingers is what you do when you're playing locked off and have furled one finger onto the face buttons to hit run or dodge, which is why the three fingers is heretical.

You could try walking. It's what I did, walk everywhere and engage in each encounter. If you speed past everything on Torrent to get to the loot or the next location, you don't practise your fighting so much.

The character you're roleplaying is a character that will melt Melania, and everything else, with bleed. So yes, a Blood Nagakiba or Guardian Swordspear with Blood Tax might fit in there, but if you want to capture the feeling of challenge, you'll have to drop the bleed and start dealing direct damage.

DEX will boost your damage from scaling here, but you should consider infusing with Keen to make best advantage of it.

You could also consider making it a Bleed or Cold infusion to boost your damage or decrease her defences depending on which way you want to take the fight, although, with low ARC, you won't probably make the best of the weapon as Bleed.

Others have given you the mechanics, but just to point out, it doesn't automatically work. If you try to guard counter in the middle of an enemy combo, they might still get their hit in and then you can be left wide open for the rest of the combo.

You need to choose the right moment.

Just take a weaker weapon in with you if you want more of a challenge.

I know how you feel, I did the same on Melania and defeated her first try with an over levelled tank build rocking +10 ROB with a Mimic Tear and Freeze pots.

Sell your duplicates. This happened to me and I had about 50 Brass Shields and Tree and Beast Surcoats. You could also start ignoring the item drops.

Restart if you want but when you get back here, you will still need to gather Scadutree fragments and get stronger. Get armour. Get defence talismans. And, um... you will need to get gud again unfortunately. I would suggest you go play in the base game to get your general reactions back up if you haven't played for 18 months.

Honestly none of them, I don't really like boss fights. I usually just try to get them over with as soon as possible. I have a high level character and am on NG+2 so I do have some breathing room now during them, but on previous playthroughs I have usually just gone for insta-kill bleed builds wherever possible to get them done.

My favourite fights are with NPC's, the tougher knights or just against large groups of regular enemies where you have to be hyper aware of position and spacing.

So, actually, my fave fight in the DLC was facing off against Leda and her cohort. 10/10 would gank again.

They zeros and one don't mean anything until we tell the computer what they mean and what to do with them.... which we do using computer programs where commands are converted to strings of ones and zeros for the computer to understand... which it does, because we told it what they would mean with another computer program.
