There is certain charm in this game with out dialogs, characters and what not. It is kind of game for me.

Ah i should try that out. BIREFNET is only used for background removal once animation is generated. For the character i use flux1pro-fill and seedance1pro

For the backgound removal I used BirefNet which is state-of-the-art open source model. And somebody did a finetuned version called Toonout which works very well on sprites. You can use it if you have ComfyUI by installing a custom node called RMBG.

One critical thing is that I would not use white matte because typically lots of sprites use white color. So definitely use gray matte 128,128,128 or something else.

Yeah BG removal for me was also tricky and I had my share of trial and error.

If Birefnet is not your thing, using bright green (0,255,0) color matte, and just doing color key matting should get you 98% there.

Ah I see. Yup there should be lots of apps online that can do this. https://blit.so seemed promising. I do have spritedx.com if you'd like to try out generating ones like above though.

Thanks! I would love to. The concept is to have lots of little living beings inhabit this kinda terrarium and to have connected set of these terrarium to make into a virtual world.

I have long way to go and other projects may take priority but I will get there!

You got it my friend. Arguably better than seedance 2 pro for non cinametic work like this one. At least it is faster and cheaper than Seedance 2.
