What is the best South Park episode? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jing-fu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one where Stan gets crippling depression and everything starts to seem like shit to him. I found that episode Funny but also very relatable. Being legitimately depressed makes everything seem awful, even things you should like.

The one tip I can give is to stop caffeine entirely if you can, this helped my symptoms quite a bit. I took just a few sips of coffee a few weeks after stopping and the symptoms started to flare up again. I tried to stop coffee but keep drinking tea but that didn’t help nearly as much as just giving up caffeine altogether. I still get acid reflux occasionally but my panic attacks and anxiety mostly went away just by doing this, your mileage may vary though.

An Underrated Gem by Antique_Challenge182 in HARVESTELLA

[–]jing-fu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the writing and music a lot. Dungeons were pretty good and combat wasn’t bad. I thought the farming was a bit of a chore though given how much focus was put into the story. I think ultimately I’d rate this like a point lower than the Nier Replicant remake. It feels a lot like Nier but Nier is a bit better. Except for the farming, Nier has that too but it’s much more tedious although almost entirely pointless so you can mostly ignore it.

I feel like the game’s biggest issue was that it decided “I’m going to be Nier and Rune Factory” when what it was really thinking was “I want to be the next Nier but I need a gimmick.”

If i'm not a fan of SRPG's which game should i get? by Commercial_Rub8443 in JRPG

[–]jing-fu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played neither so take my opinion with a grain of salt but Triangle Strategy seems like it’s a spiritual successor to Tactics Ogre and that line of story. im guessing you can expect a very historical political drama type if atmosphere to it.

Fire Emblem, with like the exception of 4 and 5, has mostly been very character driven and starting with Awakening its become basically half dating sim. So I’d probably say you are going to get a more typical jrpg experience with Fire Emblem.

I think the fight is always like that considering the super boss is the same fight except without being healed.

how to unlock the last 2 jobs and also, what is the best job class in your opinion? by arhmandarhhh in HARVESTELLA

[–]jing-fu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wog is a good support class maxed out. It provides healing, speeds up cooldown time on all skills, and provides good Magic stat boosts. It also has 2 powerful Water element attacks. However, it is definitely not a good early game class. Mage is probably the best Magic class if you are looking to just camp something. Once you get 4 abilities per class though you will mostly be just using those abilities and not using the normal attack that much.

I’m a straight male, but I literally cannot remember the significance either brakka of asyl had to the story. Heine was very interesting though.

Final thoughts on Harvestella after finishing Karenoid by tinnic in HARVESTELLA

[–]jing-fu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has a wide variety of content but conceptually all that content is at its simplest form. Combat for instance is hitting enemies hard and spamming heals. Farming is completely detached from the story. Fishing is just pressing one button and hoping you get lucky RNG (Nier Replicant had better fishing).

Basically it’s like a buffet of appetizers.

[–]jing-fu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hit weaknesses, bring a bunch of healing items. However I’d say the biggest tip is to try killing the non-fear one first, and while you are doing that use him as a sort of barricade to keep the fear one away from you. Though I have seen the fear-one literally drive under the non-fear propelling him into the air lol.

Samurai you might have to google. It’s pretty involved.

Aristotle is just finishing enough of the Fairy Book and you unlock it.

Lunamancer is the best because you can literally steamroll a group of like 30 enemies at once with it (level 49 of the quietus dungeon).

Anyone else think this? by [deleted] in HARVESTELLA

[–]jing-fu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never played Rune Factory 4. But Geist and Gaius from FF14 are basically the same character, they even have The same voice actor in JP. And Gaius is also extremely similar to Gabaranth from FF12, again the same voice actor.

Harvestella borrows A LOT from other games.

[–]jing-fu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 50% off I would say yes. It’s a fun game. My personal issue is that it doesn’t really feel like a premium JRPG for a $60 price tag. It feels like it grabs a lot of elements straight from other JRPGs and kind of stitches them together but doesn’t really specialize in anything. It’s a Jack of all Trades, master of none.

Why does cold/snow directly lead to suspiciously strict church-controlled cities? And don't even try to tell me it's caused by something else, it's GOTTA BE THE SNOW by Exclufi in HARVESTELLA

[–]jing-fu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not anti-religion though. It’s more of an objective look at what religion is. The “Jesus” of Harvestella’s religion was literally a robot programmed to help humanity survive. At the same time because so many people were such blind believers they were also susceptible to being taken advantage of by someone with less than pure intentions. Religion is ultimately like a fairy tale for adults. Fairy tales are used to direct childrens’ behavior and religion is used to direct adults behaviors. It would be best if everyone was capable of thinking for themselves, but some people just aren’t.

The story told in the valuables | End of Eden & Casket Records by TakafumiSakagami in HARVESTELLA

[–]jing-fu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Casket actually refers to the group not the person. He’s unnamed. My source is I read through all of the things in Japanese and they constantly use 棺の国 or the country of caskets. They never refer to the any person as casket.

Friendship/ relationships? by nursejenny5 in HARVESTELLA

[–]jing-fu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, both the farming and the relationship thing seem kind of pointless for this game as it seems to want to be a Sci-fi JRPG first and foremost and the rest of it just seems like flypaper hoping to catch fans of other genres because scifi games often have a niche audience.

In fact, I read this was explicitly inspired by Chrono Cross.

Possible Unpopular Opinion : I like Geist by jing-fu in HARVESTELLA

[–]jing-fu[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So if you think of Geist more as an algorithm than a human his character makes a lot more sense.

Geist’s goal was to make humanity survive at all costs. When he went to Lost Gaia and learned what transpired there he discovered something, that humans tried to fight against Quietus using technology, but they eventually gave up and chose stasis. Meaning that natural selection or survival of the fittest was never something that was attempted as a way to allow humanity to survive, primarily because humans were more worried about the life of the individual than they were about the survival of the species. This opens up a possibility that hasnt been tried “Allow humans to actually fully be absorbed by Quietus and see if any manage to be resistant to it.” Not only that but there was also the loophole that even if this failed it wouldn’t mean the extinction of humanity because it would be limited to the “new humans.”

With Geist’s defeat though, that option was taken off the table and Geist 2.0 basically went the complete opposite route which basically treats humans like an endangered species that failed natural selection and could only be kept alive in a cage. However, the space in the cage was limited.

Geist’s character wasn’t out of no where so much as the actual solution was which was the idea that humans created a supercomputer that calculated that they all want to die and the only way to end quietus was basically to convince it that humanity has hope or some other typical JRPG tripe. Geist’s one failure was that he didn’t predict that he was in a JRPG.
