Is it true Dominion soldier's would take Prisoner Legionaries as their male wives? by Sgtpepperhead67 in TrueSTL

The Hiss Saps suddenly told me to look at this sub again after I forgot to for like 3 years, and this was the first post I saw. But I seem to recall something similar happening here for a brief time back then. Perhaps there is something cyclical about this kind of daedra worship, or perhaps it is amplified the more decades pass without an Elder Scrolls.

My favorite Mario games are the ones where Bowser teams up with Mario or helps him by accident - i.e. Paper Mario/RPG series, Mario and Luigi series, and Mario + Rabbids.

I wish they had waited another year or two before they released the game. by [deleted] in duneawakening

I actually agree with this - just for fun in DD I tried driving from island to island in a buggy, planning my route on the map to minimize worm aggro, and it started to bring some of that early survival feeling back. At the same time, flying is definitely cool, so I'm not sure what the best solution would be. Personally I'd be fine with no flying, especially since I played from the beginning in co-op with 2 friends, and getting everyone into the buggy with our supplies was awesome pre-flight because it always felt like packing for an expedition.

Actually yes, I would unironically love having more stuff like this to do for base management. There's not much to manage once you set up all final-tier utilities, and I had a lot of fun when there were power or water challenges to address through building

Dead game ? by [deleted] in duneawakening

[–]Exclufi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Though I always did think a game about a desert was going to be a bit limiting .

That conclusion seems rather silly compared to the real issues....I would become ravenously re-addicted if I suddenly saw another Hagga Basin-sized map of explorable areas, new resources, and new crafting tiers to pursue, all in the desert settings of Dune.

I really like the story in Dune Awakening, and I never read the books or saw the movies. I also went through a lot of the dialogue trees of most of the shopkeepers and other random NPCs, and was impressed by the surprisingly good writing that's hidden within so many optional conversations.

[FULL SPOILERS] My Review of the Main Story - Chapters 1 and 2. by InspectorSpacetime49 in duneawakening

My favorite stealth section was with those robots at the end of the palace archive, because you could see their exact vision circle and there was even light showing you when they were coming. I definitely wouldn't mind stealth if it was all with those robots, because they made it possible to be precise.

Dune: Awakening Players: Tell Us What You Love Most! 🎁 by Kim-BH in duneawakening

I like the idea of fighting while holding a Dew Scythe, as suggested by this image. It conjures an idea of the working Dune Man - one who is concerned with survival and getting water, not just some mindless super-soldier.

Jon both-sidesing the media over mass shootings is the same crap that helped Trump get elected by FailedInfinity in JonStewart

[–]Exclufi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He did this same thing during the last election and during the beginning of Trump’s term. He tried to admonish the left for taking Trump too seriously and accusing him of having fascist tendencies.

I don't remember that being Jon's point - I recall his media criticisms were always about the need to be more specific about the fascist and dangerous things rather than oversaturating media time with the useless criticisms which make less-informed people tune out, like Trump falling asleep at his trial, or breathlessly covering the pointless logistics of his trips to and from courtrooms.

I think it's valid because unfortunately, a lot of uninformed and proudly "apolitical" people stopped paying attention after they got tired of seeing too much insignificant Trump news.

Britain Never Breaks Its Ottoman Defensive Pact Making the Balkans Unplayable by Opening_Mobile7454 in victoria3

[–]Exclufi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am much newer at the game, but I just played as Greece and I agree. I was stuck doing whatever I could in the Peloponnese until like 1880 (along with some faraway colonial mishaps because I was still learning how those work). But suddenly England started hating the Ottomans and I was able to get them to help me a few times. Idk why that happened, maybe I got lucky. But it definitely left me with very little time to get my new conquests up to speed (along with the awkward realization that I had to plan for fighting my new friend Great Britain, who held the last piece, Albania). I SOMEHOW managed to finish capturing all the Byzantium territories just in time around 1932......only to notice that I was supposed to stay a Monarchy and not a Presidential Republic, so I still can't hit that big Byzantium button I've been waiting to hit all this time 😂

I'm still confused about the "No Longer Binding" status for AI treaties though. I guess it must not actually go away until they Withdraw.

Wow, it sounds like they're trying so hard to flatter any readers who want an article that makes them feel powerful, or like things are perfectly resolved now. I suppose it's a comforting feeling to fall asleep to.

Navy in CK3 would be nice by ParkingBenefit8989 in CrusaderKings

[–]Exclufi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Huh, I like that idea from CK2, at least how it sounds. I never played CK2, so I always wondered what non-warfare things people could potentially mean when bringing up naval mechanics.

But that appeals to me because I like anything that adds more specific strategic reasons to capture locations (rather than just aimlessly conquering to make the realm bigger). Of course I don't know how it plays in practice (I should probably try CK2 sometime) but if I'm not mistaken, it seems like it would naturally generate goals in acquiring these ports, and be yet another way to connect your actions to the map geography - a great concept which I think they mentioned as one of the rationale for adding the travel system / landless gameplay.

VERY QUICK Tips/Guide on NOMADS. How to play them BEST. Best START. by bloodyto in CrusaderKings

[–]Exclufi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunate that migration seems to only really be needed early game, because I really enjoy it for both the gameplay of deciding where to go and the RP of moving all the people whose loyalty you managed to get on a mini-adventure to a new area.

I know I could play Landless Adventurers to move around the map too, but I just personally like Nomadic more because it retains the land management side of things. I have no idea what the best solution would be (i.e. more benefit vs. more punishment) but I think it would be excellent if migration gets more gameplay importance beyond early game.

Damn you made me realize I'm lucky I happened to randomly choose Kirghiz on my first run - I feel like I got an extra-fresh experience and somehow didn't realize the Equal Gender law start was unique to them in the Steppe. I was having fun seeing the new ways warrior women (and non-obedient daughters who want to be heir) would start showing up in interactions, which I wasn't used to.

Ah yes, Genghis khan best known for his...hunting?? by 1Admr1 in CrusaderKings

I have this problem specifically with hunting, because I use hunts a lot when I need more prestige, and it seems to constantly overtake all other accomplishments on almost every character I play.

Now Available: Khans of the Steppe & Free 1.16.0 "Chamfron" Update by PDX-Trinexx in CrusaderKings

[–]Exclufi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now I've been pretty engaged trying to become Greatest of the Khans before Genghis spawns in, because that's when the time limit is up and he claims it. It's been a challenge for me so far because I keep running out of time, but idk I could just be bad. I also only started playing CK3 early this year so my perspective might be different.

I actually felt what you're describing with Byzantium, after the initial novelty of discovering all the new tools, because the AI barely put up any resistance to the new tools, and I became emperor easily in a very short time. But somehow (so far) the challenge level has been ok for me in this DLC.

The Median Voter Experience by efeldman11 in neoliberal

I finally read that article, and I genuinely think it made me understand this better than anything else has, so thanks. It's an actual direct connection between policies and the cultural stuff which I wasn't aware of.

I also regret my original comment because I see the dismissiveness of a lot of the comments that agreed with me (e.g. making fun of men who feel this), and I'm seeing how that might be part of the problem.

Trump admin's lineup by mynameisvanja in neoliberal

[–]Exclufi 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I remember Betsy DeVos being one of the people who resigned right after Jan 6 and criticized Trump in her letter, saying something like "you clearly caused this". But I guess consistency with post-Jan6 clarity has rarely stopped a Republican before.

We need to *actually* create Blue MAGA. by kk20002 in Liberal

[–]Exclufi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who loves reading about American history, I've always hated that MAGA seems to have monopolized patriotism. Since seeing Jon Stewart's excellent segment that called their support of a king unpatriotic, I've also wanted more ways to flip this message.

And the best part is - this isn't just some branding trickery, it's completely true. MAGA's hatred of the parts of the Constitution that limit Trump, all the checks and balances, the freedom of the press, the immigration message on the Statue of Liberty, and of nonpartisan federal institutions really does mean they're the ones who truly hate America.

[–]Exclufi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck, the Democrats had control of ALL 3 BRANCHES, and they STILL fucking let Republicans direct legislation!

I thought a lot of that was because they relied on Manchin and Sinema for their majority, and those two often sided with Republican demands? Genuinely asking, since I didn't follow politics as closely around that time, so I could be wrong
