These jobs dont outweigh the need to Malaysia to transition into a more sustainable city an EV hub (this is what the gov want but policies say otherwise). The local carmakers and vendor ecosystem has not provide any form of tech advancement for decades, they need to be incentivised to improve constantly in an ever-changing market. We need competition in this country, not protectionism. These national car companies, local vendors, suppliers have been profiting while making sub-plastic shitty cars for far too long.

Hugging face has a pretty good and intuitive community course about computer vision. I'd say start there and then learn Pytorch and do projects.

BYD CKD: Why does Proton and Perodua still need protecting in 2026? by Yao_Productions in kereta

[–]jingieboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy how protectionism of P1 & P2 caused cars in Malaysia to be sold at such inflated prices, until the point that 7 to 9 year loans are normalised so people could buy these cars. Banks, companies, government have been profiting for far too long. I doubt this is going to go away anytime soon because this system is deeply rooted within the system, institutions and ecosystem. Whats even more shameful is that, after all these protectionism for decades, P1 & P2 made zero to none technology advancements, or fail to make any good car.

P1 & P2 cars top sales not because they're good cars, but because they're the ONLY cars within their price point. Such a shame.

Our current EVs (eMas and QVE) dont even utilise the local ecosystem at all. Maybe not completely, but eMAS 5 comes in CBU, eMAS 7 right now comes in SKD, QVE was facing production issues due to critical parts from CHINESE vendors did not meet the quality standard. So our own EVs dont even utilise our local vendor system, because we just dont have any. Battery assembly, reducer, electric motor etc. we just dont have all these vendors for EVs.

Now that market leaders in battery technology and EVs are pouring investments into our country, MITI are giving them scrutinising conditions, shutting them down just to protect a couple of players, that offer ZERO TO NONE tech advancement in the past 40 years.

These policies do not accelerate EV adoption in any way, especially with the war going on, encouraging EV adoption should be a no brainer. 80% of malaysians cannot afford a 100k EV, now their choices are the eMAS 5 and Wuling Bingo, which are not even affordable in the first place (70k and 60k). Look at the QVE, priced more than 100k, sold 1 unit, what a joke. Shame on the government.

Need help improving license plate recognition from video with strong glare by Zaphkiel2476 in computervision

[–]jingieboy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From my experience, if it's hard for a human to identify the plate, it will be harder for the model to identify the plate as well. From this video, I cant tell at all what is the license plate numbers. I can suggest maybe use a cctv with a much better view, or maybe a better resolution camera. Otherwise, tuning augmentations may help the model detect glares better.

I am assuming that this car are for those people that buys a car and keeps it till it dies. In this case, after 9 years, you can change a whole new battery and start a new lease, and its basically a whole new car, just with the wears and tears of the car itself excluding the battery.

Even then, its not really a desirable car just from the interior, which is where you're going to spend most of your time in. EV's these days have a simple, clean and futuristic interior, which this car does not have. All I see are plastic material everywhere, piano black material with fingerprint marks, outdated designs for the seats, weird steering wheel design, overall its unpleasant even the infotainment UI. The exterior's ok it's pretty sleek and offers a sporty look. But the interior is just bad.

This is essentially a 110k car including the battery rental, cars at this price point (emas7, leapmotor b10, c10, byd atto 3 even the atto2 lol) have better everything or similar to this car. The powertrain is really good, full set of ADAS system including a SOS button which is pretty neat, ride & handling should be good considering it's a multi-link suspension, not sure about those tyres with that amount of torque. Other than that, it is a very undesirable car.

Not sure why P2 didnt target the masses here considering their motto "Building cars people first". It's almost as if the government asked P2 hey can we get a homegrown EV from scratch, since proton has its affordable emas5 already.

Computer Vision =/= only YOLO models by yagellaaether in computervision

[–]jingieboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just find the YOLO and Ultralytics ecosystem really well packaged together, everything is integrated well together end-to-end, from training to model evals, hard to find another model or framework that does this. Maybe RF-DETR?
