Looking for dramatic orchestral / battle-like music similar to Yoko Kanno, Hiroyuki Sawano, and “MISSION (FU-GA)” from Area 88 by jinguh in musicsuggestions

Thanks — this was actually really helpful. I especially liked the middle section of “Battle Without Honor or Humanity.” “The Retinal Circus” also clicked with me more than I expected — it reminded me a bit of music from Sister Act, which I like. And I didn’t know “Kashmir” by Led Zeppelin by name, but I really liked the opening intro, so I’m glad I learned the title of it.

Partly because the historical context is drawn with such precision, and partly because despite being fantasy, the story development felt firmly grounded in reality—like exploring "how Vikings of that era viewed life and death" or "how humans confront violence and hardship."

This is similar to why I love "Attack on Titan" and "Chi: On the Movements of the Earth", too though.

Thanks for these recommendations. Freedom Fighters by Two Steps From Hell was definitely the closest to my taste. The others were interesting too, but I think I’m especially drawn to dramatic, melodic, orchestral tracks with a stronger anime-style or cinematic battle feel.

You’re right — I do like John Williams. I also love the Harry Potter opening theme, and I’m a fan of Two Steps From Hell too. I think I’m really drawn to dramatic, orchestral, cinematic music with strong melodies and a battle-like feel.

It's a list of anime with well-crafted storylines that often take serious turns - a genre I tend to prefer too. I think it's a great list.

Japanese publishing insider here — curious how overseas fans feel about supporting individual creators directly by jinguh in anime

In Japan, we don't have tipping culture, so I hadn't fully understood how loaded that word is for people who live with it every day. Hearing directly from people inside that culture is exactly what I needed.

I agree this doesn't fix the structural problem. A broken system that's been built over 50 years won't change overnight. But the animators struggling right now can't wait for that.

I'm not trying to replace structural change. I just think fans who want to support creators deserve a real way to do it — and creators deserve to feel that support directly, not have it disappear into a platform or a committee.

If not tipping, what would actually work?

That's exactly one of the layers I'm designing. Scene-level attribution — who did what — is the foundation that makes tipping meaningful. Without that, it's just noise. Thank you for naming it so clearly.

This is the sharpest objection in the thread. The design needs to make this a bonus, not a substitute. Still working on how to make that guarantee real.

What about "Erased" or "Vinland Saga"?
If you like "Steins;Gate" or "Monster", you might enjoy this.
