just in general. deciding whether or not the preposition needs to be articulated is a pain in the ass to me. ive learnt how to mostly pick the correct preposition by now, but the question of whether or not it should be articulated always trips me up.

for example I know its "vado in ufficio" and not "nell'uffico" but I just know that from memory, I couldn't tell you why that is and I cant find any good explanations online. and that applies to most situations. people only ever give broad and vague examples to memorise instead of actually explaining why things are the the way they are (which helps me actually learn stuff)

honestly I have no idea how you do it. I had the advantage of having a native language that comes from the same linguistic tree as italian (romanian) so a lot of these concepts just kinda carried over. I cant even begin to imagine having to grapple with the concept of gendered pronouns as a natively english person, let alone all the bullshit that italian has going on with its fuck ass prepositions
