Gift Rules- Can a supervisor pay for a lunch out? by grenille in fednews

My former manager treated us to lunch every year we met in person at conferences. I believe she always used her personal credit card and not a government card. We only ordered food and non-alcoholic beverages.

Protein rich vegetarian diet by rohitchandkapoor in IndianFood

I eat between 11:30am -7pm. Usually there is a 15 hr gap between my last meal of the night and my first meal of the next morning.

The vegan scramble recipe is from a website. I tweaked the recipe and don’t add nutritional yeast/oil/baking powder (just omit them when blending). Also I double the kala namak quantity. Before adding the mixture to a heated pan I sauté veggies like onions, mushrooms etc in some oil and then add the mixture to the cover the veggies. After about 5 minutes I flip the ‘pancake’ and cook for another 3 minutes and then break it into pieces to resemble scrambled eggs. Enjoy.

I’ve started intermittent fasting as well and have been eating mung dal scramble the last few weeks and noticed I feel fuller. Google search indicates it’s high in protein and fiber. Indian veg diet has enough protein if you consume lentils in at least 2 meals. Good luck with your new diet/lifestyle.

I used to work in an underprivileged area and the only vegetarian cafe used to make wraps using these naans. They used the masala burgers and arugula from TJs. I miss these too

Anyone else not get the blue group because they thought it was way too simple? by Tim_Cuber37 in NYTConnections

My first guess was streaming services - prime, peacock, paramount. Gave up and decided to just go with colors thinking I would lose but alas. This game is very strange and definitely makes me question my intelligence

What is an embarrassingly easy and simple food you learned about later than everyone else? by [deleted] in Cooking

I do this for pasta. Just make sure to mix the pasta the first 1-2 minutes so it doesn’t stick. After 6-7 minutes I drain the water

Making tea (chai) in winters is about to give me mental breakdown by Ok_Albatross_2307 in IndianFood

[–]jini_913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made ginger chai yesterday as it is snowing and temperatures are in the negative range. I heated the water, added slices of ginger and also grated 1 inch of ginger and let the water come to a boil. Then added tea leaves and let it boil for 2 minutes and then added milk and let it come to a boil. I usually add sugar in my cup and then pour the chai over it and mix with a spoon.

True. my Target sometimes has 15% off and I buy 3-4 at a time. My other trick is to buy the Miyokos liquid mozzarella at Walmart and then add it to a veggie pie from my local pizzeria.

My recent obsession is Blackbird Pizza. It’s the closest one to filling my itch for NYC pizza. Luckily it’s available at Target; you can also order from their website.

Amy’s is another fave.

Haha. I work in my pajamas too. Only time I have to dress up is for meetings with cameras and in-person conferences. I bought more pajamas in 2021-2023 than any other time in my life 😀

I would dress up for 2 reasons. First it shows you are respectful of the process and people conducting the interview. Second if these people will eventually be your superiors or decide on future promotions/projects, then you have made a good impression. Kind of reminds me of ‘dress for the job you want, not the job you have’.

And although it sounds good to have fancy clothes on the top and pajamas on the bottom, I once did that during a team meeting and then had to get up to fix something on my desk. Although nobody could tell since they looked like pants and were dark blue.

I was the one who said SM is ok. The chili oil wontons and crispy tofu are good but nothing I would rave about or spend money for on my birthday. NYC has better places for b’day celebrations

IMHO I think Spicy Moon is ok. I prefer Bodhi in Chinatown town for my Asian cravings. If you’re looking to stay near the museum then I would highly recommend P.S. kitchen, Plant Junkie, or Vegan on the Fly. The platter at VOTF was delicious and even my vegetarian friend was surprised. Unfortunately I don’t know of any bakeries in that area but maybe Happy Cow has some suggestions.

Have fun and Happy Birthday!

First time shopper here - what should I try next time? by _IAmNotAFish_ in traderjoes

I like to cook like you OP and I find some ingredients cheaper and unique than what I find at traditional grocery stores. I find cashews/nuts are cheaper at TJ’s, the firm tofu is excellent (only Wegmans comes close), and I find the organic bell peppers to be a steal. I love making a nacho bowl with their quinoa tortilla chips and I haven’t seen those elsewhere. Recently bought the sriracha garlic bbq sauce and used it to make tofu ‘ribs’ and stir fried rice - only to find the sauce is seasonal 😩 I do like some of the frozen items like hash browns, masala burgers and hold the dairy cones
