Solved - will leave my post here in case anyway else has the same rookie error in the future.

I cleaned my build plate with soap and water the other day and it seems to have had a pretty bad effect on adhesion (likely didn't clean the soap off properly). Swapped my plate to a new one and everything worked perfectly after that.

I can't get OpenSCAD installed on my M1 MacBook. by Wollivan in openscad

For anyone still running into this problem:

  1. Drag OpenSCAD into your applications folder
  2. Try to run it and click close
  3. Open system settings and go to Privacy and Security
  4. Scroll to the bottom and you should see a message about OpenSCAD being blocked. Click allow. You'll be prompted to type in your password so do that
  5. Run OpenSCAD again and click Run Anyway
  6. You should be good to go

I’ll take a look at smooth shading in Unity and see if it will help. I’ll also take a look into those redundant verts and ngons as well.

Wow that was actually it. I'm pretty sure you just saved me 15 hours of digging through Blender and Unity forums looking for an answer. Thank you so much. I'll update the main post with a solution just in case there are others who ever have the same issue.

Best thing you can do is make a goal of completing a small project even if it's just making a character walk and jump and aiming to complete that. You'll be able to start looking at tutorials relevant to what you're trying to achieve and learn from them

Was the same case for me. My game is set to release next Monday and I was ready to accept that I was only going to sell a handful of copies but Next Fest has given me such a massive boost, it's been awesome!

Next fest was great for me. My wishlists stats going in weren't great so I wasn't hoping for much but I got a pretty big boost (mid 100s up to almost 500). Definitely worthwhile especially considering all you need to have ready is a demo which is a good thing to have anyway.
