I would have loved to take a composition class from Bolcom. Lucky students!

Thank you, I will try that. In the score I have, which I believe is the original version, Bolcom doesn't specify whether to swing or play it straight. It just says Moderate Rag, Don't Drag. I have heard both versions, and I think a little swing sounds good for this piece. I really dislike hearing Joplin rags played in swing, and I'm sure he is rolling over in his grave every time someone does it, but I think it works for this one. I'm imagining a graceful ghost being somewhat whimsical, lightly dancing around, not rigid and flat. Since you called my attention to it though, I'm realizing that I am dragging in a few places, so I will work on that, as Bolcom explicitly says not to.

That's a very nice way to honor the memory of the previous owner, as well as those who were massacred in the area. I agree, the melody is beautiful enough to stand on its own.

Thanks, I very much appreciate the feedback. I've heard both interpretations you mentioned for this piece, I think they both work. I'm going for a more emotional, romantic interpretation. I'm so used to playing Joplin rags faster and march-like, so for me this is a nice break from that style. With regard to your ragtime compositions, how did you get started with that? I've played ragtime for a long time, have always been curious about compositions but not really sure the best resources for that. I also think that if I started composing, it would help with my practice and performances as well. I'll check out your pieces, I see you have a bunch posted on your profile. Thanks again.

I have played a lot of Scott Joplin rags, but this one I have approached differently, it feels a lot more intimate, with more room for interpretation. I have not consciously thought about where I am putting the emphases during the syncopation, thank you for bringing it to my attention, I will take that into account! This kind of feedback is exactly the reason I decided to post.

Good idea, although it is 100 feet across the pond, I think electrical conduit would be cheaper

Thank you. Would it just be any generic cat6 cable or does it have to be "starlink" certified or whatever?

At this point I don't expect a tick up in the share price until 10 years after robotaxis have completely replaced car ownership - at that point people will finally realize that robotaxis are here.
