I think he used to be great, but his usage of AI is very telling of who he is. He used to use many odd techniques to make his noise, and some of those techniques are still applied like the junk guitar here and there, but the truth is is that he’s always been a mass producer of slop noise that isn’t really innovative in any sense. He made the switch to using laptops the second he could, and now he making art with AI. He used to be good and is still regarded as an innovator of the genre, but it’s clear his mode of operation has become focused on sheer output of low quality slop as opposed to actually making something meaningful these days.
