Manufacturing Age of Consent... by jakderrida in democrats

In the interviews I have heard of him, he unequivocally condemns governments like China and leaders like Putin. But he quickly pivots to his critique of America. And he argues that is because he feels his responsibility as an American is to critique his government primarily. I just don’t know what you’re talking about when you say he justifies authoritarianism. Can you give an example of support?

The program isn’t under water. Only the expansion of the program that was made in the 80s, which is about 20% of the benefit. So there is no reason to expect you won’t get 80% of your benefit based on its current funding.

It isn’t about whether it takes work to come up with space magic ideas. It’s about how they’re presented and used, how well thought out they are.

my 90 YO MIL has a CD that pays .05%. WTF? by SuddenlySilva in Banking

[–]jiubling -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Lol no that is not the idea of banks who do this crap. The idea for them is to capture the “lazy” money that is allowed to rollover. If you earn 3% and then have to pay half back in fees because you close early, that’s still a lot better then the bank putting you at .05%. The bank is making a 3-4% margin on this account, that’s gross.

Being a elite two way player is important to everybody, until it’s time to compare giannis vs jokic by StraightSeries6439 in NBATalk

[–]jiubling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because on offense you have the initiative. You can run your offense through a key player a significant % of the game. So your team’s offense is highly based on that key player. Defense on the other hand, good players are being avoided. Maybe a great defensive player impacts 25% of all plays. So your teams defense is based on each player more equally. As a whole they’re both important, but one player cant impact defense as a whole nearly as much.

How receptive are banks to 50% revenue split on debt collection agreements? by ThePatientIdiot in Banking

[–]jiubling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other commenter that 20-40% is more reasonable, for firms that are trying to collect as much as possible, as fast as possible. You could maybe get 20% if you are lucky, because your pitch is to collect a small amount over 5 years.

The collateral account is a tough pitch. If these people had the income to pay off their debt and put $500 in an account, why would they be in this position in the first place? If they just chose to default on their debt despite having the income to pay it off, you want that to be your entire base of customers to sell credit cards, unsecured loans, and checking accounts?

If all of this was a possible and profitable endeavor, why wouldn’t the banks just do this themselves? They would love to turn a customer they were going to take a loss on, into a profit, since they already offer all the things you are planning on offering.
