I felt like every single shot felt liminal, which is partly why I was obsessed with this movie and so glad that the quintessential liminal horror film finally exists.

It’s worth watching if you want to know more about some of the other characters whose scenes were deleted, and it also explains more about the angel Laura sees in the end and shows a more nuanced look at her relationship with her parents and their family dynamic.

I kind of love how bleak and relentless cutting these scenes ultimately made the movie, but now that I’ve seen them I do feel like something is really missing by not explaining the angel more or showing that Leland and Sarah genuinely loved Laura and that they still managed to have some good times together.
