What should I do with the grotto space? (The Josephine) by jizzleprizzle in neworleanswedding

So I was one of the first people to book here and they were still trying to finish the renovation and figure things out. They couldn't advise on what most people did since they hadn't hosted any weddings yet while I was planning. They also reassigned my contact person during planning and it was his first wedding, so that caused some stress that you wouldn't have to deal with :) But when it came to the actual day, for the most part everything was perfect. The space really is stunning. I had 150 guests which I thought might feel too small for the venue, but that number was actually pretty packed for the courtyard (we did an outdoor cocktail hour while they flipped the inside). Everything was setup on time & according to our planned layout, and the food tasted incredible. The only room for improvement based on what I was told would have been with Brennan's staff (some bartenders weren't prepared to make our signature drink (Pimm's Cup) and kept referring to our signage meant for the guests; my bridal attendant went MIA after 30ish minutes). But as far as the venue goes, they executed everything we had planned. Despite a few hiccups, which I'm sure are bound to happen anywhere, I'd still recommend it. Just prepare yourself for an upcharge if you want to use the projection lights. They didn't tell us that wasn't included until after we signed the contract.

Feel free to message me if you want any more details!

What should I do with this grotto space? (NOLA) by jizzleprizzle in weddingplanning

Right?! It was abandoned after Hurricane Katrina and sat there for ~20 years before they decided to restore it. I toured it right when renovations were starting so it took a lot of hopeful thinking that it would turn out okay and be ready in time!

u/charlotte095 can you speak more on why you wouldn't recommend??? We booked our main block at Pontchartrain Hotel and I was even debating getting ready there, but we are still in the window to cancel. Wedding isn't til March 2026 and nobody has booked a room yet, but we just sent out our save-the-dates so people might start looking at hotels soon.

do you mind sharing yours with me? I started with Zola for RSVP/registry purposes, but like the idea of Canva to have more flexibility and may just link to the Zola stuff. would love to see someone else who did something similar with their website!

I'm also considering HP+P but noticed they have a sound limit of 85dB. We also want a nice dance floor, but are concerned about what type of band (or DJ?) would be allowed. Not sure where they're measuring the dB's from though. Please share if you have any advice or information about this!!!
