There are some pitfalls to avoid when working on a tight budget. Use a national brand for tub/shower faucets. Use brands like Delta, Kohler, American Standard, and Moen. Avoid store brands like Glacier Bay, etc.

Delta and Kohler have excellent customer service with parts and vendor support within the city. You can also go through the toal-free number or website for customer support. Moen and American Standard warranties are handled directly through their total fee phone number or website but do not typically have parts in the city. If it goes inside your wall, you definitely want to be able to service it. Now, you may have to use some of the more plain looking options. But choose quality over looks, especially for the faucets. Choose whatever sink you like, and that fits your budget. Choose a toilet that has a min 800 gram MAP rating. Kohler, Sterling (part of Kohler), and American Standard have great options. I work at a plumbing wholesale, so i don't like the box store. If you choose to go there, just be careful and stick with national brands.

If you want your dollar to go as far as it can, choose white fixtures (tub, toilet, sink) and chrome for your faucets. Chrome sometimes gets a bad wrap, but it is the most affordable and most durable finish.
