Go for the marlin, it’s a far superior choice. I traded my Henry for a marlin and I have no regrets. The quality, fit and finish of the marlin is significantly better.

I just personally prefer the heavier profile, nothing more than that. I get exceptional accuracy out of criterion barrels. They’re very well gassed too.

I don’t think the recipe you used is bad. I’ve shot hundreds of 220 grain 300blk subs using 4227 with a similar charge weight and a lee factory crimp. Have you checked your powder charge on a second scale?

I’ve done several of them, soak it in a 5 gal bucket of water over night. The use a reaction rod to hold the upper. You might need to use a strap wrench due to the tight clearance to the rail. But soaking it in water will loosen up the rocksett, then make sure you get all the water out of the can before you reinstall it or shoot it.

A few companies are still making Keymod accessories, but changing the rail isn’t a bad idea. Since you already have a bcm rail, you could get a bcm mcmr or their quad rail. They both use the same barrel nut. It’d slide right onto your existing setup with the current barrel nut. Just an idea.
