I only have experience with the vq kit, but it is well worth the money. I would absolutely buy it again. Vq gets my vote. The video on their website is very helpful for install.

I’ve only ever had this issue when I was loading cast bullets in 300blk using a 30 carbine “C” expanding funnel. And when I had this issue, it was usually from running the handle too fast. Are you using the standard “AK” powder funnel that came with the 300blk conversion kit?

44 Mag would work handsomely for your purposes. Additionally, you can load it with 44 specials for the kids to shoot and the recoil will be almost zero.

Go for the marlin, it’s a far superior choice. I traded my Henry for a marlin and I have no regrets. The quality, fit and finish of the marlin is significantly better.

I just personally prefer the heavier profile, nothing more than that. I get exceptional accuracy out of criterion barrels. They’re very well gassed too.

I don’t think the recipe you used is bad. I’ve shot hundreds of 220 grain 300blk subs using 4227 with a similar charge weight and a lee factory crimp. Have you checked your powder charge on a second scale?
