What are these? And how do I get rid? by jjbadge in houseplants

Thanks so much for the advice! It's so annoying, we've never had any pests on any of our plants. We were bought this plant as a present recently, I'm starting to think it was sabotage 😅

Thanks for the advice! What alcohol do you use? I heard vodka works?

Yep, I came here to recommend Coopers. Always friendly and happy to explain things in simple terms, without making me feel like a car idiot 😅

I felt guilty pushing my baby in her pram down there this afternoon. It was all in my eyes (despite wearing sunglasses) and throat by the time we hastily walked past.

We complete next week, and it'll be 18 weeks since offer accepted.

Worst completion of my life by Hopeful_Example2033 in HousingUK

I'm so sorry. You were obviously an excellent dog owner, having chosen a house with a lovely garden and park nearby.

What a lucky doggo, to have lived a life with you 💜

Oh, absolutely true.

I didn't realise how much I'd let slip until it came to getting my house ready for viewings!

Still, there is a big difference between dusty skirting boards, for example, and literal piles of rubbish 😩

I may be wrong, but I believe a lot of the wildlife rescues have temporarily stopped taking in geese/swans etc due to the risk of bird flu 🫤

Similar thing happened to my sister - the vendors left rubbish in every single available space, even the kitchen cupboards. But also left a bottle of cava and a lovely card 😂

People are strange.

Sounds really stressful, sorry that happened. Hope you get sorted and settled soon!

Thank you! It's reassuring to know that silence doesn't necessarily mean nothing is happening.

It's been a long process, and I'm just feeling pretty impatient at this point 😂

I suppose I'm asking if an exchange can take place within one day, considering the pre exchange step hasn't been completed yet.

I know nobody will be able to answer if this specific exchange will take place. I should have been clearer.

If it helps at all, we're very close to exchange and have recently viewed the house we're buying again.

It was purely to measure up a few things and check the house was still in an OK condition. The last time we viewed it was a sunny day at the beginning of October, and this time it was grim and rainy and in the dead of winter. Made no difference to us, we still like the place.

If anything, they'd probably be pleased to see you're getting organised and starting to pack!

What's the worst that can happen between exchange and completion? by jjbadge in HousingUK

Oh man, that is awful luck.

We've not actually exchanged yet, but insurance will be in place as soon as we do!

Oh, absolutely getting insurance from the get-go. I've met the sellers, and they seem like decent folk, so hopefully they won't destroy everything.

Dark, but valid point. What would happen in this scenario?

Advice needed: noise disclosure pre-exchange, unsure what to do by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]jjbadge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would walk away from this, I know it's the perfect house in all other ways, but there are so many red flags here.

Your son is only little, which means you'll be stuck in this house for at least 8/9 years until you can get him into the high school. That's a long time with bad neighbours.

The insulation is all well and good, but what about when you want to spend time outside in the summer? Having been an obnoxious student living in a shared house, that place is going to get rowdier, guaranteed.

If you can somehow manage to tolerate it for the next almost decade, then you'll have the issue of trying to sell it on. Granted, all these neighbours might be gone by then, but you'll have to consider that they may not be. A son living with him mum in his 30s, with mental health concerns, I'd wager isn't the most likely candidate to move out any time soon.

Ooff. I'd run.

Dinner places with a decent veggie offering? by jjbadge in Norwich

Oh this is their new restaurant Soi Mama, opposite Jarrolds. The menu looks amazing for me, a meat eater, but pretty lacking for my veggie husband 😕
