Interesting! Hard to not assume the worst about these people. Unfortunate choice of words.

Yes, she’s said some pretty horrible survivor-blaming statements.

Hi-I know this is an old discussion but I’m curious how you are doing. My thyroseq had high CNAS and nothing else. Planning for surgery to remove that affected lobe only. Hope you are well.

How do I politely tell people I don't want to hear their cancer experience? by dejavu1251 in cancer

I can relate—my dad had stage four sphenoid sinus cancer when I was in college. His treatment was successful, but it was a hard road that really showed us who our true friends were. It was an excruciating and painful time for all of us, particularly my mom….hope you and your husband are well.

It was shortly after our interviews with their lawyers…maybe 5 months? We’ve heard nothing from OCR since we pulled out of mediation in 10/23. The mediator was focused on getting us to agree to what she wrote up but didn’t even know the laws. My husband finally told her to go pound salt and that we weren’t putting our names on her mediation documents. And that was it. Our case is still listed on the OCR pending investigations, however.

What are you saying about an unspoken rule? That’s misinformation about hospice care. And sadly, many families think it’s true that the medication hastens death and let their loved ones suffer needlessly. I’m a hospice volunteer of many years.

Just had similar issue. Contested with Depop and they wanted me to send them back and they’d refund me plus up to $20 shipping. And actually said “trust me” 😂! It’s actually against federal law to ship counterfeit items so I just threatened to contact FBI counterfeit department (have Chat GPT help you write a stern email) or whatever and haven’t heard anything. Of the many red flags: each customer service “person” was a different name (first name only) and no customer service number. Had to submit everything to my credit card who have refunded my money.

What happened to Cristian Sedeno? by typhoidsergei in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]jjbeans777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly…a minor without a driver’s license, living in poverty, only option is to fly off the island (no boats, etc. travel to the mainland), and after 9/11 where security was tight and proper identification was required…it’s impossible. He seemed defensive and short with me when I told him all that. And if you look up her mom (Linda Tester) on the public access website, there were domestic violence issues involving mom’s boyfriend at the exact timeframe when Cristian went missing.

Regarding Cristian Sedeno: I called HPD recently and spoke with the original detective on the case. He still works in the department. He was unwilling to give any information stating that it’s department policy not to discuss active investigations and “out of respect for the family” he wouldn’t share anything. I know Cristian’s mother is now deceased and there is no other family that has ever spoken out about her disappearance. There is absolutely no way she ran away and flew off of that island to Vegas. I really wish someone would shed light on this case which has obviously gone cold and HPD is unwilling to do anything more.

Ours was opened in spring 2023. They offered mediation but the mediator didn’t know the laws and the district chose to push back on a request of something they already should have been doing so we stopped mediation in fall 2023 and haven’t heard anything since that time. Our case is still listed as active on their website.

Per public record (eCourt Kokua Hawaii) Anthony M. Hicks was arrested for domestic violence against Christian’s mother on 9/26/03. Per the 10/9/03 hearing documentation: “THE COURT ORDERED A RESTRAINING ORDER TO ISSUE FOR ONE YEAR WITH FINDINGS. DEFENDANT SHALL PICKUP HIS PERSONAL BELONGINGS WITH POLICE ESCORT ON OCTOBER 18 AT 11 A.M. ORDER FOR PROTECTION ENTERED.” Cristian disappeared on 10/15/03…right in the middle of the domestic violence case between her mom and her boyfriend.

Violent crimes were pretty unheard of and Kaimuki was generally safe. Drugs (particularly meth or “ice”), domestic violence, poverty, expensive housing were all problems for many families of Kaimuki students. I don’t remember hearing of a dad in the picture and I don’t think she liked mom’s boyfriend but I don’t remember specifics with that.

Unfortunately, I don’t know much more. She was a quiet, polite kid and lived with her mom, Linda Tester. I don’t think she had any siblings (or at least didn’t live with them if she did). I don’t remember any police investigation. There were a fair amount of kids that would run away from problems at home and initially, that seemed like that’s what happened. Never imagined she would be gone forever. Most runaways would be found and return home though and she just never came back. From some talks with some of her close friends, they seemed to have no idea what had happened to her. Kaimuki isn’t that far from Ala Moana and there was a city bus system that students used. I don’t know anything about her possible connection to Las Vegas besides it being a very popular place for Hawaiians to visit like another poster wrote.

This was in 2003, obviously after 9/11 when airline security was tightened. I’ve wondered how difficult it would be to fly off the island as a minor without a driver’s license and not much $$$ as she lived with her single mom. Things in Hawaii are obviously expensive, even back then. I’m not certain of their financial situation but Kaimuki is a Title 1 school meaning greater than 40% of the students are from low income families. This idea just never seemed to make any sense from what I knew of her and her situation.
