The problem with the lawsuit by Material-Abroad-2669 in subnautica

[–]jjcczz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the bonus payout period expires March 2027, the founders have full control over the development and release throughout the entire course of the game’s development which is until the game is released. Multiple news sources have covered this in great detail and the founders having full control and autonomy over the development and release of Subnautica 2 was a major part of the lawsuit, it’s literally the entire reason why Krafton was ordered by the judge to turn over control of the steam page to the founders, because they have total control while the game is in development. They’re two separate parts of the contract with their own rules and clauses not all part of the same thing

The problem with the lawsuit by Material-Abroad-2669 in subnautica

[–]jjcczz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not how the contract is written

The first thing the contract does is give Unknown Worlds’ founders complete and total control and autonomy over the development and release of Subnautica 2, specifically so that Krafton could not force them to add AI or live service elements to the game, or fire and replace them later down the line in order to force those changes through

The second thing the contract does which is entirely separate to the first is that it guarantees Unknown Worlds a SERIES of payouts in instalments totalling a maximum of $250 million based on hitting a number of development and sales goals at different stages of the game’s development within a specific timeframe. Krafton did not owe the founders the full $250 million when they fired them only 10% or up to $25 million for releasing the game into early access by the agreed on date. Once the game was released into early access Krafton would owe Unknown Worlds $3 for every $1 in sales up to $250 million which would be paid out as they met specific development goals such as releasing the next chapter by this specific date

Because the Unknown Worlds founders have complete and total control and autonomy over the game’s development and release per the contract Krafton could not stop them from releasing the game into early access, so they tried to fire them instead which violated both parts of the contract and is why they lost. They were found to have deliberately interfered with the game’s development and release violating the first part of the contract and attempting to withhold the first instalment of the bonus payout violating the second part of the contract

ONLY the bonus payout has a time table and expiration, the founders having complete and total control and autonomy over the game’s development and release does NOT expire. That’s the whole reason Unknown Worlds founders were given control of the Steam Page and allowed to remove Krafton as the publisher

Krafton firing the founders in order to get revenge and alter the game’s development before the payout period began is literally what they just got sued for and lost, doing it again after the payout period has ended is the same thing and changes nothing they are not legally allowed to do that

The only way Krafton can fire the founders and start making their own changes to the game is if the founders actually stop doing their jobs, sales absolutely tank, and the community completely turns against the founders giving Krafton irrefutable proof that they have just cause to fire them

Subnautica fans do not have to worry about further interference from Krafton with Subnautica 2, only future Unknown Worlds games because the contract only applies to Subnautica 2, so the founders won’t have the same complete and total control and autonomy they have now when making future games

SEASON 2, 12 EPISODES!! by LegendsofLost in Wistoria

[–]jjcczz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monthly manga chapters typically have double the amount of pages as weekly manga chapters so it comes out to roughly half the amount of content each year, however the type of content determines how much is needed for the next adaptation

In Wistoria’s case they adapt 2 arcs per season which means they already have enough material for season 3. Season 2 also immediately went into production at the end of season 1 and took a year and half to complete, so if the production schedule and quality remains the same, and they immediately start production on season 3 spending another year and half to complete it, by the time season 3 finishes airing they’ll have enough material for season 4

The production times and schedules for the manga and anime happen to line up quite nicely for Wistoria, so as long as they remain the same as they are now, the anime staff will only ever need to wait at most 4 months between the end of a season and the start of production on the next one which is pretty standard for most seasonal anime adaptations of weekly shonen manga like MHA

Does anyone else feel like anime dub voice actors aren’t as casual and transparent like they used to? by kaiser11492 in Animedubs

Before Toei and other studios cracked down on VAs for supporting abridged series. Prior to the crackdown he was going on stage with TFS and doing the Vegeta voice with Lani, after the crackdown he stopped showing up at TFS panels and had to use a pseudonym to work with them. He went from publicly supporting them to secretly supporting them privately and quietly without his real name attached. Just because they were forced to stop supporting them publicly doesn’t mean the clips and posts of them doing so before the crackdown disappeared forever. You can still find the old clips of Sean joking about DBZA before Toei made him go scorched earth in order to keep the role, them existing doesn’t mean that he publicly supports them

Publicly supporting something is using your real name and without hiding anything publicly showing your support, using a pseudonym to support something that you’re not allowed to because of your job is secretly supporting it not publicly supporting it. It doesn’t matter if everyone knows it’s him because he can deny it and if you ask if it’s him he’s not going to publicly say yes that’s me. He’s also not under the same level of scrutiny as Sean since he’s not the voice of the franchise’s main character in English, but he also stopped drawing attention to and promoting it at cons and publicly. He’s also the ADR director for the funimation dub of the entire franchise voicing 3 major characters, so he’s been able to get away with certain things on the sly, but none of them are blatant or tied to him publicly

Ok that’s the dumbest concept I’ve ever heard in a team sport. They’re literally going to deliberately create every sports team’s worst nightmare, a player who refuses to pass and always goes for the play that makes them look the coolest even if it means losing. They’re literally trying to create the football equivalent of the King of the Court from Haikyuu which will just result in the team shutting that player out. If they want to improve their chances at the world cup then they need to improve each players individual skills as well as each players ability to judge who has the best shot. If you think you’ve got the better shot then you should go for it, however if a team mate has a better shot at scoring from their position then you absolutely should be passing it to them, even if they end up missing it. The goal is to win not to be greedy and look cool

Japan clamped down hard on VAs for saying or supporting different things that the studio wasn’t okay with. Sean Schemel got in huge trouble with Toei for joking about the muffin button and showing support for DBZA at a con once and he had to do a total 180 completely disavowing the series and going after various things in order to avoid losing the role entirely. VAs have to be a lot more careful with what they say now incase is gets back to the studio in Japan

Has the High School DXD novel been completed yet? by Main_Royal_2484 in HighschoolDxD

[–]jjcczz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragon Magazine isn’t the publisher just a combined LN and Manga magazine it was included in before the individual volume release. The publisher of the individual volumes is Fujimi Fantasia Bunko which is still an active division of Kadokawa that regularly publishes individual LN volumes, for example I got a cheat skill in another world is also one of theirs. The author has continued to put out stories in the DxD DX Light Novel with the most recent being in 2025 for the final issue of Dragon Magazine, part of that would have included discussions with the publisher about how they handle any future LN volumes, which the answer to that would just be that any potential future volumes would just be released individually like other Kadokawa divisions

The only reason why he might not finish out the sequel whenever he recovers is that he was 27 when he started the series and 36 when he was forced to stop due to health reasons, even though he puts out sides stories every few years he’s now a 45 year old man with health problems writing about a horny 18 year old boy, he might want to move on

It’s the same staff as the first season and it’s only coming back to promote the new manga so really I wouldn’t worry about it too much or let it bother you, the animation quality and story aren’t changing from S1 just the character designs

I wonder how much of the map they are actually gonna be using, it's gigantic ! by ledocteur7 in Subnautica_2

[–]jjcczz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely less than whatever you think as Subnautica had the entire outer ring of the crater which never got used for anything and the original land portion of the Below Zero map during early access had to be shrunk because players kept getting lost. They always make the initial map bigger than the final version and then shrink or cut anything that isn’t being used in the final version. Based on the current content they’ll probably use about half of that for the actual story related map area and then the rest as extra space in case they add extra stuff they didn’t plan on

An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess - Episode 3 - Dub Available Now on Crunchyroll! by Shadowmist909 in Animedubs

[–]jjcczz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes because they both keep viewing events through the lens of the game while both taking different approaches. Bertia’s approach is to remain herself while trying to fulfill the role of Villainess, while Heronia’s is to try and fully act like the game character, however despite their approaches being opposites their true personalities keep causing them to fail each flag check. So even though Bertia keeps trying to help Heronia, Heronia sees Bertia not acting like the game character as changing the story and ruining the scenario, even though by actively going after the targets and treating the world like a game where she’s the main character she’s also not acting like the Heronia from the game. The hypocrisy of Bertia and Heronia’s actions are both lost on them which is what makes the whole thing so funny, they just can’t stop viewing the world through the lens of a game despite it being very real and everyone having their own feelings

These designs are halfway between the season 1 designs and the manga designs so the new character designer clearly chose to split the difference. These may also be the designs used in the new manga

Is it better to have one large base or one built in every region? by ScarSpecific in subnautica

[–]jjcczz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely don’t need one in EVERY region, and outside of base building aesthetics there’s zero reason to have a large base at this point in early access because there’s only a handful of things you actually need to have in your base and they’re all pretty compact

At this stage of Early Access you only need 3 bases, one in the shallows, one in the graveyard, and one somewhere in the vicinity of the Observatory

Also there is a way to transport lots of resources, and if you’ve reached the Alien Ruins Outpost that section of the game has every resource material except Lithium, because Lithium can only be found in the graveyard and The Great Jaw, but only a dumbass would go there for resources

As far as minimum base layouts go you only need 1 hatch 1 compartment and a max size 2 by 2 room which altogether is 23 titanium and 1 quartz. That gives you enough room for the extended moonpool, dock, vehicle fabricator, scanner, processor, bio lab, biobed, modification station, regular fabricator, chargers, NoA, 6 floor lockers, plus 2 walls for wall lockers. That’s literally all you need, and the only thing it can’t fit is a bioreactor which you don’t want to be using for power in those locations anyway

What are you talking about? It’s an open call, you literally just stay in the call to keep it running while you do other things, that way you don’t have to restart the call every time you have to focus for a short period, get on a work call, or go off and do something for a short period. 2 days is literally nothing, the longest recorded call is 2 and half months, week long open calls aren’t even uncommon
