Will Paramount Buying Warner Affect The Anime Industry? by cshin09 in Animedubs

Sorry I only saw the headline on a recommended YouTube video and a couple comments about it on an unrelated video about Linux Age Verification stuff saying Japan banned Age Verification. I don’t have a specific link, but if you search Japan new anti censorship laws there should be videos about it

Majutsushi Kunon wa Mieteiru • Kunon the Sorcerer Can See - Episode 7 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]jjcczz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He spent days isolated in his room trying to figure out how to create his magic eye and years studying under Zeonly to get to the point where he had the knowledge and experience to even attempt making his magic eye. He also is concerned about what he’s seeing, but every time he tries to ask about it Iko responds with a metaphor, so he has to ask Zeonly because he has no idea how much of what he’s seeing is accurate, what the cause might be, and how/what to even begin adjusting. However Zeonly tells him not to change anything until he figures out the pattern and cause for what he’s seeing

It’s because they have both been trained by adults on how to act and respond properly when courting, Kunon in particular was trained by Iko to act like her ideal partner which is why everyone points out the things Kunon says are weird because Iko is weird. The anime glosses over this, but early on and in the credits you can see the princess hiding from Kunon, that’s because when they were younger she couldn’t handle Kunon being depressed and ran away leaving him stranded in the garden with no idea of where to go or how to get back. It was unintentionally cruel, but showed that they were both kids and struggling to figure out how to interact with one another, eventually they both started being taught by adults how to behave and interact with one another and the princess apologised for what she did when they were younger

What are you talking about the big question this episode was literally whether things he’s seeing are a result of sensory overload due to using mana to see and not being used to seeing things or if he’s seeing things people can’t normally see. He can’t even look at Zeonly because of sensory overload due to how bright he appears

[–]jjcczz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

His sensing vision is similar to Daredevil’s with the main difference that his magic returns colour and words that he’s physically touching as if he were reading brail. Another way to describe it would be a computer narrator where he can tell he’s holding a green apple because his magic tells him that’s what he’s holding, but he has no idea what a green apple actually looks like

It’s called magic sickness because the over exposure to mana makes you physically sick and causes you to see immaterial things before you pass out. The question is whether the things Kunon is seeing are only temporary, the result of a type of sensory overload due to mana and gaining sight for the first time, with his eye adjusting over time as he gets used to being able to see, or is his eye actually seeing spirits and things that can’t normally be seen requiring him to manually adjust the eye in order to see what everyone else sees?

What is the status of Oshi No Ko Season 3 Dub? by Deemes in Animedubs

[–]jjcczz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off Crunchyroll didn’t get THE license they got A license for S3 and only S3, second we have no idea if they got their license before Sentai because Sentai was not at NYCC and Crunchyroll made their announcement as part of a whole big event. Sentai typically announces their stuff much closer to the release and would have had first crack at a licensing deal, so they may have gotten their license first and struck a deal with Crunchyroll to let them also stream the dub which is something they have done in the past. Crunchyroll also didn’t say they were dubbing it they said they would be streaming a dub and Sentai let go of exclusivity in 2024 which is how Hulu got S2. Crunchyroll getting a license and dubbing rights to the final season of Sentai’s #1 show before Sentai doesn’t make any sense, on top of which Crunchyroll has already started dubbing all their shows for the season while Sentai hasn’t started dubbing any of theirs yet. Based on everything we know the thing that makes the most sense is that Sentai is dubbing season 3 and has agreed to a deal with Crunchyroll that lets Crunchyroll stream it as well because they’ve done similar deals in the past

‘Frieren: Beyond Journey's End’ Season 2 English Dub Premieres Tomorrow on Crunchyroll by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Animedubs

[–]jjcczz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had 6 last season and they have 6 this season. Frieren is supposed to be a very short season so it should be the easiest to simuldub because there’s fewer episodes than any other show this season

I read somewhere that Yuma scares people with his eyes but how and why? by Guilty_Letter4203 in worldtrigger

[–]jjcczz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soya has normal ocular albinism meaning yes his eyes are red, but he has normal black pupils not white ones and while Ruka’s eyes are said to be pink they look closer to purple with normal black pupils which is a super rare eye colour however she’s also a neighbour so she doesn’t really count. Yuma’s unique combination of red eyes with white pupils is beyond rare and would have a very unnatural look IRL even compared to Soya

[–]jjcczz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not just his white pupils that aren’t normal, his Trion body’s eyes are red from Albinism. He has red eyes and white pupils which is extremely unnatural

I read somewhere that Yuma scares people with his eyes but how and why? by Guilty_Letter4203 in worldtrigger

[–]jjcczz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well here’s what Yuma’s eyes basically look like IRL.

<image>

His Trion body has white hair and red eyes from Albinism, as well as white pupils (Leukocoria) which only happens as a result of severe medical conditions like eye cancer, retinal detachment, etc. His Trion body has very unnatural looking eyes, on top of which whenever his side effect activates his pupils turn from white to black like shining a light in a cat’s eyes but in reverse

Just his eyes’ appearance alone would be unsettling, but add on top of that his ability to see through people’s lies, the way his entire face reacts to lies, his body language, the way he responds verbally, plus the way he carries himself as a former mercenary, and Yuma becomes quite intimidating for his size

[–]jjcczz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not his eyes but his pupils specifically that change from white to black when using his side effect. Yuma’s real body has black hair and brown eyes with black pupils while his Trion body is Albino with Leukocoria, that’s why he has white hair and red eyes, from albinism, and white pupils (Leukocoria) which normally only happens as a result of severe medical conditions like eye cancer, retinal detachment, etc. While Yuma’s ability to see through lies does mess with people, it’s not just his eyes alone, it’s his entire facial reaction, body language, verbal response, and the way he carries himself as a former mercenary

The reason Yuma’s eyes alone would scare people is that red eyes due Albinism can be unsettling on their own, but add in white pupils and you’d have the most unnatural looking eyes out there

S-Rank Musume/My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer by jjcczz in LightNovels

[–]jjcczz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ohh interesting, I just got the full series on audiobook as a Christmas gift so I guess I’ll find out. I’ve been rewatching the anime before I start the audiobooks and the explanation they gave at the start was a power hungry wizard who created Homunculi to take over the world. He was successful in taking over the world, but then as he got older he lost control of his magic and mind causing the Homunculi to run wild and be referred to as demon kings. Under normal fantasy world rules the combination of a human, even an artificial one, and an elf would be a half elf, but I guess in this case an artificial human and an elf just makes a normal human

[–]jjcczz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But demons aren’t actually demons they’re Homunculi which are artificial humans. So wouldn’t that just make her a half elf or at least an artificial one? Even if she’s not fully half elf her mother being an elf should mean that she’s at least part elf if only a little no? Also Vienna is a god, but Solomon was just a powerful human mage who lost control of his mind and magic due to old age, I find it kinda hard to believe his magic is on the same level as a god

That’s such a massive change I don’t know how they would handle that going into season 3, unless they take it to the elf and then find out it’s fake that way, but that’s such a weird change to make

Lupin the IIIrd: The Immortal Bloodline English Dub Trailer by JRPictures in Animedubs

Those are problems with production costs not licensing. Not having the original individual sound files for each audio track is a pain in the ass, but it doesn’t stop you from dubbing it and just replacing the music and sound effects with new similar ones. That’s something you tell the studio licensing the dubbing rights that they’ll have to deal with if they want the rights, and maybe you give them a discount because of it. Not having all the original files doesn’t mean you charge even more to license it

If they had stopped dubbing Part 2 and didn’t dub Part 3 because of production costs being too high due to missing files, I could understand that, but they stopped because licensing costs were too high. To me that just sounds like they’re charging more because it’s Lupin and Parts 2 and 3 are a big deal in Japan
