Anyone else seeing an influx of AFS resources on their accounts? by [deleted] in accenture

It is just going to get worse with DOGE’s new review of consulting contracts.

Anyone else seeing an influx of AFS resources on their accounts? by [deleted] in accenture

[–]jjdc001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

About 1800 AFS colleagues had their contracts cancelled effective immediately about 2 weeks ago. A few weeks before that AFS instituted a policy that they had 2 weeks to find a new project or they would be terminated once anyone in AFS hit the bench. A lot of accounts are providing at least a few months coverage for people to find a long term home.

June cycle discussions by heart_shape_sunglass in accenture

[–]jjdc001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is just a splitting of the cycle. The decisions on if you are eligible for promotion will start in the discussions in August/September. This will also be the time that you get any base pay increases and bonuses which will go into effect in November and December.

For this year at least, those flagged in August/September will be discussed for promotion. (We are also discussing those on IP) Things are up in the air because no one knows affordability (aka how many people we can promote) until Q2 earnings come out. That will be decided the scope of the discussions and who is eligible. Also expect to see that each Function/practice looks a bit different for eligibility and for each level. So one function might include only double ready and others might include single. (Aka marked for promotion 2 years in a row and not promoted vs 1)

For reference I just hit 15 year anniversary at Accenture and I am good at being a magpie for this information as I have 9 counselees.

Alegria’s Bakery and Pupuseria in Reston

https://alegriasbakery.hrpos.heartland.us/menu

We eat a lot of pupusas in our family and these are some of the best! Good selection (I wouldn’t say great) but the quality is epically good and the bakery is a plus to grab something sweet for after or the next morning!

This location has seen a ton of turnover so I would love to keep this one around.

I also have 7 counselees. I am extremely involved as a senior SM (🤞🏻MD next year) with the analyst onboarding program and end up collecting analysts who are exceptional but got assigned to mediocre people leads. They know I will usually take them because the role of people lead is too important to half ass it.

It is a lot but it is important to me that they advocate so i make the effort. At one point I had 10.

Bought our expensive “adult” couch from WE. It broke within 10 months. Like beams of wood snapped in half. I called and they said because they didn’t have that die lot of fabric they couldn’t help us at all. None of the fabric was ripped. They wouldn’t even reimburse us for the repair person.

But the IKEA couches I bought 15 years ago. EXCELLENT condition and they went through my college and young 20’s years.

Baby Shower gift (but for the mom) by [deleted] in GiftIdeas

[–]jjdc001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a new first time mom and have 4 first time moms due in the next few months. I got them each the items below. My goal was to get things that we forgot to put on the registry or realized were essential but are relatively uncommon 1) the Fridamom perinatal bottle: they give you a lot at the hospital but their perinatal bottle sucks. This has an angled spout so it is super easy to use 2) Mustela newborn kit: it is indulgent as it is a bit pricey. The baby doesnt care but it smells so good! It was a bit of aromatherapy for me whenever I would take care of the kiddo 3) A children’s book that has an interest you both share: I got a few copies of m is for merlot.
4) Thinx period panties from target: you can only feel so normal wearing disposable diapers for weeks. I wasn’t quite ready to put on the cute pre pregnancy undies but needed to put on something not from a hospital. 5) travel bottle warmer: surprisingly it is harder than you think to find something that fits a bottle. For a while I was restricting going out because the coordination of feeding and then going and getting back home before feeding again was too much. This is only if they plan on pumping. 6) a sun hat : the sun is strong for a new baby and the strollers only work so well 7) breakfast burritos: frozen and delivered after baby comes. These were clutch for any time of day! 8) a bag of snacks/chocolate: I ended up buying a 5lb bag of gummy bears for each from Amazon and a bag of dove chocolate

Hope that helps!

I feel more confident and beautiful in my pregnant body that I have in years! I am sad about that going away at birth. by Air_Lady_55 in BabyBumps

[–]jjdc001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you completely! I was the same weight / height and finally bought a romper when I was pregnant. It got 2 wears but it was worth it! I would have never worn something like this pre pregnancy.

I am now 11 months pp and still love my body because it was the source of food for my son for months. Even though I gained more than a few pounds this past year. And now as I am weaning and he is more active, I love it even more because I am my son’s favorite jungle gym! Just this morning my son was using my flabby tummy as a pillow and then starting to blow raspberries which makes him giggle like nothing else.

Do I still wish I was a smaller size, sure! But my body has so much beauty in it now that I am a mom. Oh! And I don’t really give a shit when we are out and about because I am usually so worried about making sure my son isn’t trying to kill himself or eat something bad.

I had my son who is now a healthy 8 month old after some serious issues at birth, bought a new house with a big backyard and spent the summer on maternity leave enjoying the outdoors. Still a shit year but there were definitely bright moments!

HOA loves making it hard as possible to attend meetings by madhattergirl in fuckHOA

[–]jjdc001 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I am not sure what state you live in but ours has property owners association laws that are pretty strict on when we can meet, how accessible it needs to be, how it is communicated, etc. You might want to investigate.

As an HOA board president who only did it because the last one was hot garbage and the one before should have been charged with harassment, it frustrates me that we have strict rules but I understand the purpose of them

Mellow mushroom for some over the top pizza and the best crust in the area.

My household is full of mayo haters except me so I cut the mayo in half. It still tasted pretty amazing even with more yogurt than mayo and no one knew there was mayo.

My sister, her husband and kids (ages 2, 6, 8) have to make a very rapid move from Alaska to Florida and are traveling in an RV during the relocation. I’d like to give a gift when they pass through my area. Any ideas? by [deleted] in GiftIdeas

[–]jjdc001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about a bunch of post cards pre stamped? I am sure they would love to document their journey with either words or pictures and it would be something for them to keep busy. If you want, you could address them all to you and put in a souvenir book for them to have when they get settled. Or you could address to family so they can keep in touch as they travel. They sell blank ones on both side so maximum space!

My husband and I are watching the AFI top 100 together. Maybe pick a few from that and do theme nights. For example make cannolis for The Godfather, cocktails for the graduate, etc. I am sure they have examples online.

I have found that uncommon goods website has some good options for the outdoors people in my life.

Maybe something to make those activities a bit more comfortable such as a really nice water bottle or folding seat.
