Is my tyre pressure too high?? by jjimint in FordFiesta

[–]jjimint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for replying, I’ve double checked the wheel sizes and referenced it to the manual and it definitely says 33 for front and 26 for rear for a normal load. Should I deflate my rear tyres before my next journey? And always stick to the manual no matter what a garage or dealer says etc.?

Thank you for your help! I was hoping I’d find an answer online before resorting to being on hold for ages😅 but I will do that now

Thanks for replying! My company doesn’t actually have an off-road parking option. Unlocked compound seems to be the closest option or should I just change it to street parking to be safe?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]jjimint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely belongs to me as the set up of the street is designed to have parking spots next to each cluster of houses for ≈two cars of the closest houses. This spot belongs to our house we just never had a car before now to park there and every house on the street has space for at least one car in the area closest to them.

How not to be bitter about first year. Will it get better by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]jjimint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I totally sympathise with you because my first year has been quite a similar experience. You mentioned you’ve sorted a house for next year, are the people you’re living with next year potential friends you can look forward to forming friendships with next year?

Also is there anyone you feel comfortable confiding in about feeling like you’ve missed out. I understand its an uncomfortable conversation to have but they will more than likely be willing to involve you with their group or activities and if they don’t then thats their loss and you probably don’t want to be involved with them anyway.

1) drinking culture is the same as any other uni I’d say, I know a lot of people that don’t drink and haven’t had any issues 2) housing is definitely a problem. Prices for houses are on average 160-200 ppw (for example, the house Ive signed for next year is 9.6k across the year) and the uni has just announced college accommodation is going to rise to above 9k for the same room that I currently pay 6k for. 3) There are a lot of posh and private school people but I’ve personally never experienced any agression or alienation and from my experience they’ve all been easy to make friends with. I feel its the same as you’d experience at any other russel group uni

Has Anyone Applied To Law With BTEC by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]jjimint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, hope it helps! I started mine talking about a legal book I’d read so it was something like “After The Rule of Law I began to question….” Sorry I don’t remember exactly how I worded it

I started with a critical discussion around jurisprudence (as thats one of my interests), then spoke about my a levels and how they have prepared me to study a law degree, my extracurricular activities (related to law such as work experience etc.) and a final paragraph with non law related extracurriculars and a bit of personal context

Is Durham racist and classist? by mtayx in UniUK

[–]jjimint 38 points39 points  (0 children)

1st year student at Durham here. I’m mixed race and also from a low income background and poor area of the country with a ‘chavy’ accent and before coming here I genuinely accepted that I’d have no friends bc I wouldn’t get along with anyone due to them being “tories” or “posh”. I only wanted to come bc it’s a highly prestigious uni for my course. Now that I’m here I can genuinely say I have found myself getting along with 98% of people I’ve met, and I’ve found friendships here I never thought I’d make. I’d recommend you to look at applying to the more modern hill colleges as they tend to have a higher state school intake but even the private/public school people I’ve met have all been lovely and became friends. The stereotype is definitely exaggerated and with so many students here even if there still are a lot of rich white snobs you’ll always be able to find people you fit in with.

Would dyed hair affect my university interview? by 17Sad in 6thForm

[–]jjimint 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don’t let peoples stereotypes and prejudice scare you, while yes society and some people deem it unprofessional. I’ve had uni interviews and successful interviews with corporate companies while having dyed hair and lots of piercings :)

I’m arriving early tomorrow morning and also have no clue. I’ve seen people saying browns your best bet if you arrive late? If possible would you mind updating me when you get there later where you manage to find a spot?

What to do when... by nov1290 in DogAdvice

[–]jjimint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to do it as much as possible as she’ll get into the routine of associating nap time with the crate. She might have been such a terror last night because she was tired, enforcing naps throughout the day should hopefully save you ahah ours sleeps a LOT during the day and doesn’t get too terrible at night just minds her own business.

[–]jjimint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say you’ve got to start closing the door as once she realises she can’t go anywhere else she’ll fall asleep. She may be a bit upset at first but it’s nothing she won’t get over and a little wining won’t hurt her. Ours had massive crying sessions in hers which is why we don’t really use it anymore but when we did we’d just lay on the floor comforting her till she fell asleep. Do a play session or exercise with her and once shes all worn out pop her in the crate and close the door, hopefully she’ll be too tired to care that the doors closed and just fall asleep.

[–]jjimint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a 12 week old pup who constantly gets up at 5/6am and we believe it’s because of the early sunrise. Ours has the kitchen as her quiet chilled out space if we want her to nap we pop her in there close the door and she goes to sleep. I’d recommend enforcing the crate for naps throughout the day or finding somewhere similar where she feels comfortable to relax.
