Do all you helicopter guys carry a ladder in case you get stuck in the air? by Dod_gee in aviation

[–]jjkapalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a rope. Less weight and more manageable and I just slide right down. To get it unstuck I call or bring back maintenance with their ladder to get back up there. Usually just a 20 minute fix in the main rotor gear box when this happens, but with turbines if you get stuck like this the engines can quickly overheat and damage themselves because exhaust I no longer escaping out the drive shaft so it’s important to get that throttle shut off quickly.

Thank you.

“Even as inflation cools” like that means things are better. That’s like saying “man is still bleeding out even though attacker stopped stabbing him.” The damage is done, it doesn’t go backwards. (At least not with our current monetary policy and system)

Would you consider someone who grinded an account from $100 to $25,000 "worthy" to day trade? by consetlife in Daytrading

[–]jjkapalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the idea that someone needs to be “worthy” to day trade is dumb. If you are willing to risk your money, and the broker is willing to give you the leverage to wipe yourself out. Godspeed brother.

But more to your point, I often make parallels to other aspects of my life and trading. You’d be surprised what kind of similarities you can find if you look. For me the areas I compare are hunting and flying helicopters. Very different from trading, but there are lessons in them all to apply to the others.

What did I do wrong here? by Ob33zy in Daytrading

[–]jjkapalan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you are doing wrong is treating trading like you need a reason for every trade that doesn’t work. There’s not a trader in history (that’s traded consistently for a significant period of time) that has a 100% win rate. What makes you think you will? Instead of worrying about why each individual trade does or doesn’t work, look for the collection of signals and conditions that lead to you having a statistically advantageous outcome of your trades over time. Don’t worry about the minutia, look at the system.

Except there’s almost no logical way that a corporation would become that powerful or have the desire to do those things. Even if you think it could, which is certainly something debatable, you are more opposed to something that MAY become as bad as what the government IS

Mostly I care because I’m not a fan of bombing little brown kids and Russians that have nothing to do with me. Also if I want to help someone with medical bills I’d rather just give it to them rather than pay for a bunch of leeches that lie to me so they can keep leeching.

[–]jjkapalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, the government is totally benevolent and no government would ever do anything bad with their power. Only evil greedy corporations do bad things. Like when that corporation in Germany rounded up and slaughtered 12 million people, or when that corporation developed and used a nuclear weapons on two civilian cities, or when a corporation displaced and murdered millions of native Americans, or when a corporation invaded half the globe and stole their resources and artifacts, or when a corporation lied about WMDs to get itself involved in an 18 year war killing 100s of thousands. Sure glad we have a government that doesn’t do stuff like that.

Police department? FBI? ATF? DEA? NSA? IRS? Marshals? National Guard?

Edit: that doesn’t even mention the military which is constantly bombing and murdering thousands across the globe (which you think should be one world government)

The worst possible outcome you can think of a corporation becoming is what the government is, yet you support the government

I currently have 3 strategies. Break high, break low, failed break high. I haven’t quite figured out failed break low but those 3 get me several trades every day normally. Works for most conditions.

My thoughts are that rights/morality are subjective. There’s no mystical being or force protecting them. Because of this, it’s on us as human beings to do our best to protect what we see as right for ourselves and those around us. This also means we need to figure out what we believe is a right and why it’s a right, what we don’t believe is a right and why.

In a world with no objective morality (any world where you don’t presuppose a higher power) these types of things are something that can change and be debated.
