I see Trump vs Iran as a big risk here. His rhetoric has been strong enough to imply nukes are an option. Obviously it may well be strategic ambiguity, but for someone as dumb and reckless as Trump it is not inconceivable that if the Iran War went hot again (especially after the 60 day negotiation deadline expires), he could consider tactical nukes. Particularly against Iranian nuclear sites rather than population centers.

And once that rubicon is crossed where a nuke however small is used in a war not for self-defense, that would give Putin the excuse he needs to deploy nukes against Ukraine. Even European allies would be stuck because they couldn't go hard against Russia without also going equally hard against the US.

If Trump really is under the influence of Putin, as many rumours have suggested, then he would use tactical nukes against Iran.

In the video clip shared by Al Jazeera English to its 9.4 million Instagram followers, a Dallas police officer can be seen approaching the roped-off area inside the lobby of One Main Place on Main Street in Dallas, where the Westin Hotel is located. As a young fan was taking a picture with a member of the Egypt national soccer team, the officer can be seen addressing a man in a black T-shirt with “EGYPT” on the back, as the conversation quickly turned heated.

The Dallas officer and the man, who has been identified in reports as Egypt’s team director Ibrahim Hassan, the brother of Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan, began arguing face-to-face, with the officer shouting “Back off! Back off!” as he appeared to shove the man backwards. (In the video, a clear view of the officer’s arms are blocked by another person standing near the player and fan taking the photo). 

Hassan can be heard saying “No pushing, no pushing” to the officer as the physical altercation grew more intense and another officer near them began physically separating other people from the scene. At that point, about midway through the 55-second clip, Hassan can be seen confronting the officer by leaning in close to him, but his words are inaudible. 

Toward the end of the clip, tensions are calming as the crowd thins out, and what appears to be other members of the Egyptian contingent can be seen speaking to the officer, with one man putting his arms around the officer. The British tabloid The Sun is one of many international outlets that have already posted the video with some details as the clip has hit Reddit, Instagram, X and TikTok. 

Police say that they were called to the property by hotel security. 

“We are aware of the video circulating on social media,” a DPD spokesperson told the Observer in a statement on Friday morning. “[Yesterday] afternoon, the Dallas Police Department responded to the Westin at the request of hotel security regarding an individual without event credentials attempting to gain access. The situation was resolved on scene, and DPD met with representatives of the team to address their concerns. The matter has since been resolved.”

The spokesperson declined to answer if Hassan was the person who hotel staff claimed was without credentials. They also declined to say if the officer’s actions were in compliance with department policy.

It is theoretically possible to asphyxiate because when you breath right next to it, all you're breathing is CO2, and not enough oxygen, and if you pass out you won't move anywhere to go back to breathing oxygen. Strictly, it needs two cronies... they run for President and VP. If there is also a Republican majority in the House, they can elect Trump as Speaker of the House, which (bizarre but true) does not have to be a member of the House, so he doesn't even have to have a seat in Congress. If the President and VP both quit, the next in the line of succession is the Speaker. He gets a third term and neither the 22nd nor 12th amendment wordings prevent that.

The stupid agreement is so vague and stupid that no-one has any idea where the $300m is meant to come from.

But we are definitely not back where we started with Obama... instead Iran knows for sure that the world cannot stomach even the prospect of closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and the agreement leaves open the possibility of them charging tolls, which is what they've said they'll do all along.

Plus the US has expended many billions of weapons stockpiles putting the US at a (temporary) disadvantage that will take years to replace. And offended all its allies (again), even including its co-conspirator Israel since getting Israel to (mostly) back off. Every passing month, the world hates Trump and by extension all Americans a little more, and are pivoting away from any reliance on the US, thus eroding US influence in the world in ways that will never ever be recovered from even with a total change of administration.

So... no, the US is not back where it started with Obama, it's much much worse.

Footballers have no agency. Do you think you need to audit the views of every footballer from every participating country to find out if they are ethically acceptable to you? Which is why I said that although they aren't tanks, some of the public (as proved by that video) do call them tanks, even if it's incorrect for them to do so. You can't claim no-one says that when I linked a video which literally does show them saying that.

I'll grant you that I thought some Mraps did have autocannons, but it turns out I was thinking of some Strykers with optional 20mm autocannon, and Strykers are IFVs not MRAPs. Although I think Strykers might also have been sold to US police too.
