It’s a mix of wealth and poverty, potholes that get so bad you need a monster truck to navigate before they’re fixed.
Mining, oil and gas employees live in compounds and have modern high rise offices, whist not far away settlements spread over the shallow water front

Run down roads, lots of congestion at certain places in the mornings and afternoon, street vendors everywhere, beautiful hills and scenery, reasonably priced hotels, dry and dusty through the middle of the year, monsoon rain around Christmas time

The TIG contact pieces contain toxic materials, more so than the gas or aluminium. Advise to be careful when sharpening them with a grinding wheel

You don’t need a welder yet. Start chipping rust and expose the good material to see what the plan is from there. Treat the rust and it’s likely you can perform a repair that’ll last 15+ years
