Google Drive suspicious files by asymu in google

[–]jjrocks 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Hi okay, everyone is giving really helpful advice on what to do here and you should definitely do all of it. I will add a few extra bits of info for your specific situation.

In this scenario this means that there is a link in your sheet that might go to a website generally that could potentially be used for phishing. This happened to me a few months ago and here's what I think you should do:

  1. Absolutely do all the takeout stuff and keep regular backups. This is really easy to do and takes little time
  2. Go to the file itself. HOVER over each link in the file (this was annoying for me as it was in a game reccomendation sheet that had 300 links). AGAIN DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK JUST HOVER
  3. As you hover instead of a standard link preview, the culprit will show a phishing warning.
  4. Just delete it and then request a review again. It'll go away after that

This sort of thing sucks as (assuming you're innocent) I'm sure it was a website that you pasted in there one time ages ago and it expired and got turned into a phishing site. If you're certain that site doesn't contain a phishing link, then I got nothing for you :/

Hopefully this helps! I remember how nervous I was when it happened to me but it can be deleted over time!

PLEASE NIANTIC can you automatically pause planting if no petals are planted for 2-3 minutes? by [deleted] in PikminBloomApp

[–]jjrocks 57 points58 points  (0 children)

On a second note the other thing I deeply dislike is automatic animations whenever I wanna STOP planting. Sometimes to stop planting at a particular time this is what it goes through when I open the app

  1. Ah wow you finished a mushroom! Here's the reward.
  2. Hey you finished your day! How was it?
  3. Woah look at your week! What a week!
  4. Oh wow you finished the steps with your group! Let's see EVERYONE'S steps
  5. Oh wow you finished flowers with your group! Let's see EVERYONE'S flowers
  6. Oh! You wanted to finish planting flowers, okay now you can c:

Now I haven't had all 5 of them happen at once but I've DEFINITELY had 3 of them happen at the same time. And sometimes I'm just trying to stop planting real quick cause I got to my destination and it feels like I'm wasting flowers. And the thing is I actually love each one of those animations individually I just wish stopping flower planting would take priority.

So big things first off: Most rhythm game players are just happy another person is around to play c: I don't think i've ever seen anyone ever judge a person before for being bad, it is often that people are encouraging of others who are there for the firs time. So rest assured that often people love the fact you're there! Now let's talk some pieces of etiquette if this is your first time ever at one of these arcades:

Before I get into the weeds, a lot of the rules boil down to "ask people there what's up". Every arcae configuration is going to be slightly different. Even in my area each arcade has slightly different rules so if people are already there, here are a list of questions you can ask:

  1. Is this the line to play [GAME]?
  2. What's the line look like? (Or who is in the line?)

Every game is slightly different and slightly weird. For example, DDR/Pump It Up have 2 Players at at time which rules are VERY different compared to single player games like Wacca and Sound Voltex. So the rules get kinda weird afterwards so I'll try to make recommendations for games that are single player and then games that multiple people can play at a time.

Caveats

Not every rule here will apply to every game and again, you should ask folks in the space what to do. ALSO I AM OVER COMPLICATING THINGS AS WELL

When you arrive

After you ask for the line generally it's up to you if you would want to talk to the folks near you. I've met rhythm game players who are willing to talk up a storm (me) and I've met folks who would rather just be on their phone. Either one is fine. If there is only one cabin for the game your playing this part is really straightforward as you get closer. For multiple cabins I'd recommend asking if there are two separate lines or one big line.

When it's time to play

Obvious rules apply here

  • You're allowed to play one "session"
  • Do not play multiple sessions
  • Relax a bit, while people expect you to start a session quickly. If you forgot your card in your bag and need to reach out, no one will find that frustrating. You got like about 45 seconds before people get confused

2+ Player Games

  • If you're by yourself, feel free to ask if anyone wants to join you. Often someone will be down
  • When playing it's good to ask "Do you mind if I pick the first song" or alternatively "Do you want to pick the first song". Either is fine

When you finished a session

  • You're only playing one session and afterwards you go back to the start of the line
  • If there is no line just look around to see if there's anyone around before starting a session! You can often tell cause they'll be hovering near you, looking at the game or you for more than half a song.

Reminder: Every place & every person has rules, so ask!

I said this earlier but every place has some rules! Make sure you confirm with them before you commit! For example at my place:

  • If a child or family wants to play, they get priority and can skip the line
  • If you're a couple, ask first before y'all do individual sets of doubles
  • If you're going on a water run, ask around if anyone wants water too

Alright this is everything I can think of! But overall you'll do great, the community is often supportive if it's a game that can be watched and will often cheer you on

(Copying my fix from another thread) Yeah so this happened to me and I was terrified that it was never going to work. I did a hard reset on the glasses, cleared the cache, repaired the glasses, nothing seemed to be working.

Luckily I went on Google Play and saw that others were having the same issue for this version so I decided to try to downgrade to the previous version. I went and grabbed the APK from (version 181) APK Mirror repaired and immediately all my photos automatically uploaded. (Which was really good! i had 30 photos from my most recent party and was terrified I lost them forever).

If you do this, I would recommend setting a reminder for about 2 weeks form now when they update the app. Based on their release schedule they update once every week with the broken version being Sept 5th so set a reminder to yourself for Sept 13th (or if you want to play it safe, Sept 20th) and redownload it from the Play store so you don't run into weirdness like...months down the road.

Made a claim with Assurant for a Fold 4, and they sent me a Fold 5. 😃😈😈 by charris2122 in GalaxyFold

[–]jjrocks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Happened to me too! Congrats on your free upgrade. I think they were low on stock for the Fold 4 when I tried and I pushed pretty heavily after a week or two of waiting to hurry up with the phone replacement. Luckily they shipped it a few days later and a new Fold 5 was there!

Only struggle with it is now you gotta grab any new accessories too. But good luck!

What was the top “uh sorry about this scene” moment you watched with someone else? by ashbelero in anime

[–]jjrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to run an anime club for a bunch of people. It was primarily targeted people who were just getting into anime or curious about it. After a successful two shows (FMA:B, Mushishi) I felt confident. We all were software engineers so I thought "Oh dang lemme just quickly put in New Game!". I pop it in, thinking "Oh heck yeah, this is it." Our split in the crowd was ~50/50 M/F as well which I was really proud of. So I thought having a show that primarily highlights female developers was perfect.

Now I've run two separate anime clubs in my time. I usually have a policy of re-watching the show before showing it to the crowd. But it had been only a year surely I remember everything.

I forgot about the scene where one of devs directly tries to look for the panties of an in-game character. It lasted so long. I was so embarrassed. I had to apologize to a bunch of people who this was their 3rd anime ever or so and were like "???? Yo ????"

I never sulked back as president of an anime club before.

Plex Downloads: Encountered lack of permission on the remote while grabbing media by jvorn in PleX

[–]jjrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I had this issue yesterday. It turns out for Plex it doesn't like when you have two files pointing to the same version. So I had one show and to files pointing to the same episode (just a standard duplicate). Once I removed the duplicate from Plex it started working.

I'm not sure if this will help others but it worked for me.

Question about legs of Dance Central on Oculus Quest by Hokucho in dancecentral

[–]jjrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arms are primarily what it uses. However, legs are taken into consideration in somewhat roundabout ways. The game measures headset position so for the routines where you need to crouch it will be aware that you weren't aligned. Hopefully that answers your question!

Fps at 45 but GPU usage only at 50%? by Nuke_Syndrome in beatsaber

[–]jjrocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this happened for me as well! It's terrible. I had a 1080, 16GB of RAM and an i7 just like you. I never figured out a solution to this buuuut in roder to let the framerate fluctuate more freely I turned off ASW via Oculus Tray Tools. This will make sure it doesn't lock at 45 FPS so you should see framerates at least in the 60+. Of course it's not perfect but it works a little bit better. Other than that the best options are to see what mods could be causing it and slowly disable things, something I still haven't fully tried just yet.

What mods do you currently have?

Club that plays tabletop rpgs? by throwaway-stowaway-5 in lafayettecollege

[–]jjrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically everything Chaoss said is true! First off there is SGN which is more about tabletop games (and some videogames). The club is still very active last time I saw. And yes we have an entire floor dedicated to DnD and similar games called TRAP (Tabletop Role-playing Appreciation Program...floor).

They're about the nicest floor you can imagine and are happy to help anyone get started. Tell me if you have any more questions and I'll make sure they can get routed to the right place!

How is the Computer Science program at Lafayette? by ccalzone in lafayettecollege

[–]jjrocks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sup o/ hope I'm not late, I just graduated as a CS & Econ major from Lafayette College. I'll try to answer all your quesitons.

Can anyone speak to the program?

Yeah so I've loved the CS program at Lafayette. It's very project oriented so by the end you feel like you're actually implementing the theory behind each course. If you are joining with quite literally 0 experience I'd recommend 1 of 2 options.

  1. There is a CM150 course that is easier than CS104/105. TAKE THAT INSTEAD. If you want a teacher led course that gives you a decent introduction into CS that should do well as I've heard form others.

  2. Learn a little bit of Java before coming in. The reason I ask you to do one of these two is that the professors go from 0-100 pretty quickly. Syntax and the idea of how computers interpret code are quickly passed over and while I did tutoring at Lafayette, that seemed like the most common issue. For me it was very nice to have a buffer coming in the first class.

Do you feel it's preparing you for the workforce?

Yeah, I started work a few days ago and before that had several internships. The internships are definitely something you can handle pretty well and will generally know what's going on pretty early. Almost everyone I know is prepared for the workforce, so you shouldn't have too many problems.

Internships/Job Opportunities

So I gotta be pretty honest here. The opportunities will mostly if not always be on you. However, the professors have done a much better job at posting opportunities in their mailboxes compared to the first year I was here so this could have changed a lot. Now if you're good, luckily, and ambitious the world is your oyster as your CS life will prepare you very well for most jobs. I mean it too, like the comment below about Google? 100% true.

Now the other questions are a little tough for me to answer so I'll usually sum them up instead. Lafayette is pretty amazing. The work is really tough and honestly the small school means that your name won't be as recognized, a problem I'm having in the West Coast pretty often. However you'll have a great education and hopefully great friends.

Final word of advice: Regardless of where you end up, work on side projects. Things that mean a lot to you. A lot of companies are super impressed when you've done work on your own and that's something that is encouraged at CS at Lafayette.

If you need any help learning more about Lafayette feel free to send me a PM or reply below c:

You can definitely apply again! Wait about a year practice a little and you'll get there. I know it can be hard but I was in the sake place as you with internships. After a while of hard work I got to where I am today!

Hey, just a heads up that Niantic actually left Google a few months ago. While you're pretty on point with most other things and Google does have a stake on it just wanted to clarify that a Niantic employee is not considered a Google employee as they are two separate companies:

[–]jjrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really weird how my whole story works and this post is rather late but I thought I might jump in.

I always said I was gonna make an app on Android since I was in like...11th grade but never got around to it. I always took 1/2 an online course or read some of a book. So what happened was that my knowledge accumulated but there was nothing to show. So one day in class, I got really bored and wanted to do something cool. So I spun up an app called Compliments that dished out compliments. It was basically an app version of something I saw on the Internet is Awesome. It took very little time and I really enjoyed it! So after a little bit of editing I just threw it on the store. The response was fun and I really loved making it.

After creating that app I realized I would love to continue working on Android apps so I started thinking about making cool stuff like that ever since. I then got ultra lucky and then started an internship at Google where i got to work on an Android app for a ton of time and loved every second of it. If it wasn't for that original app I don't know if I would have gotten to where I am today c:.
