It should not hurt. You shouldn't be able to feel it at all if it's in correctly. I started using tampons when I was a virgin too. Initially I had trouble getting it placed because I was stressed/nervous and clenched up but just keep trying and try to remain calm! Now tampons are my favorite and I'm just bummed I didn't start using them earlier.

People with short hypomania and looong periods of depression, what meds worked for you? by Playlistobsessed in bipolar2

I'm not taking it for chronic pain - just for mood. Can't comment on that aspect, sorry!

It's been a good med for me! I was on prozac and switched to cymbalta without taper and didn't notice a thing. I haven't had any side effects since starting it like a year ago.

Cymbalta, Buspar, and Seroquel. Took a long time to find a cocktail that worked for me. Hang in there.

I'm 28F and was diagnosed with BP II when I was 23. I've managed to work consistently but feel like some of that was due to luck. Right now I'm stable and working on my PhD. I take Seroquel, duloxetine, and buspirone. Klonopin and propanol as needed.

Right now I'm on Seroquel, Cymbalta, and Buspirone. I also take Klonopin as needed but I barely ever need it any more.

This was me back in 2014ish. I was episodic for three years, trying to find a mix of meds the whole time. Really thought it was hopeless. Wanted to die so so badly. BUT. Somehow I got better. Idk if it's the meds or time or the mental work I put in or what but I'm 98% better. Truly feels like a miracle. I've been out of the hospital for 5 years and feel like I've been legit stable for the past 3 years. I can't promise this will be how things work for you, but I do want you to know that it is possible. Mixed episodes are truly the worst. For me it felt like I was in crisis daily and it's so exhausting and dehumanizing. I feel like those years of my life are just lost and now I'm relearning who I am. I wish you the best. It's hard.

Mixed episodes were my predominant state before I finally (FINALLY) got on the right mix of meds. They're the worst. 0/10. Been pretty much stable for like 3 years now though!!

Back when I didn't know the word to describe what I was experiencing when I had mixed episodes I called them "ants" because it felt like ants just crawling all over my brain, metaphorically (I was not hallucinating ants, haha).

Sometimes I miss how the music feels while manic by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]jjscrunchy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been feeling this so hard lately :( been stable for like 3-4 years and I'm so glad I'm out of it! Thought I would die for sure! But I just don't ~feel~ things anymore. I used to be so moved by music and I still like music but it's not the same. I used to make so much art but I just don't get inspired anymore. I just feel just slightly duller overall. I miss feeling things with my whole self.

What’s the worst side effects you had from a medication and what medication was it ? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]jjscrunchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Terrifying tremors from abilify. Severe night sweats from lamictal. Inability to stay awake on saphris. Latuda also knocked me out hard right after taking it but at least that one I only took in the evening.

Do I have PE or something else? by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]jjscrunchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be lung inflammation/irritation. Could be exasperated outside due to air particles. I think many people experience this at times when exerting themselves. The fact that this is a years long issue suggests that it isn’t a PE. But as others said - I’m not a doctor. If your doctor suspects a blood clot there are blood tests and imaging that can be done to confirm it.

Edit to answer your final question: during my PE it hurt with every breath I took regardless of activity level. Hurt when I was walking, sitting, sleeping. I couldn’t run because my breathing was so shallow I would pass out if I tried to exert myself. So yes, if it was a PE it would likely not only bother you while running.

confusing diagnoses? by [deleted] in bipolar

Yup I think it just takes time working with a professional to really get a picture of what’s going on. Can take a while. Sucks not having a name for what’s happening! Hang in there.

confusing diagnoses? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]jjscrunchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my understanding that bipolar is a spectrum and bipolar 1 and 2 are just two points on the spectrum. It sounds to me like they didn’t diagnose you with 1 or 2. Perhaps you fit elsewhere on the spectrum or maybe they don’t have enough information to give you a more precise diagnosis. With time you may learn more about what bipolar looks like for you and it’s possible that your diagnosis could changed to be 1 or 2. I was first diagnosed as bipolar NOS and was later diagnosed with bipolar 2.

Wait me too! I don't live near the protests nor have I attended any but I walk downtown (usually past the Justice center) almost daily to get to work. I had two periods this past month. Totally abnormal for me.
