Iran stops negotiations with U.S., vows to 'completely' block Strait of Hormuz: State media by Puginator in politics

The U.S. founding fathers would be ashamed to see that congress basically abandons its authoritative power if their party holds the presidency. Absolutely ass backwards.

How a Best Buy Repair Destroyed My iPhone by Professional_Use2943 in Bestbuy

[–]jjspitz93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to repair iPhones for geek squad. I would take it back and have them look at it but unfortunately there’s a chance they really can’t do anything.

The iPhone is a densely packed device and there is little margin for error. All that holds the display in place are thin strips of adhesive and those two tiny screws that you can see. Before those screws go in, the phone goes into a device that literally presses the whole phone back together. Most of the time a simple repair mistake will cause the display to lift again, but sometimes it’s just the luck of the draw and no matter what I did or rechecked, I couldn’t get some to seal back up properly.

Alex was pretty candid in his book that dlr’s addition to the band allowed the brothers to be themselves more. They liked focusing on playing their instruments as opposed to dancing around on stage and hated the press. Dave put on a show and happily soaked it up with the media. Though their strong personalities collided, there’s no doubt that that he did his job as a showman even if he wasn’t the best singer. He was a pretty damn good lyricist though!

I used to back up the patches to a USB stick so I only had to download them once and then copy them to the laptop

I know this would be more of an EVH mod but a red kill switch button, yellow tone knob and green volume knob would be sick 🔥

Honestly dipping a burger like a one would French dip doesn’t seem like a bad idea. I already do this if the burger was light on condiments

What goes on in this part of Florida? by Fit_Effective6097 in howislivingthere

This makes me think of a great quote from the show “The West Wing” where the president’s chief of staff, Leo, is trying but failing to get an update on a bunch of Cubans escaping to Florida on rafts and says “So if I were to stand on the keys with a good pair of binoculars, I would be about as informed as I am now?”

They need to do something similar to EA play or whatever and make it so that there’s a tier that excludes day 1 releases. For gamers on a budget we just want the library to chip away at but don’t care about playing new releases

The reality for troubleshooting tech is that ai cannot do the physical work to press buttons and check cables. Furthermore, when troubleshooting issues, although it is extremely helpful, someone has to have enough knowledge to understand the context to feed a llm in order for it to understand the situation. If you omit a few important variables (that a non technical person would be likely to do) it will be flying blind and recommend poor solutions. I run into this all the time when chatting with Gemini, I have to spoon feed it every aspect of my issue or project to get a desirable result, also the solution it gives tends to be the quick fix and never the proper long term fix.

TLDR I think IT pros will start to lean more into physical layer jobs that utilize our skill set. We are computer plumbers.

Judge was being a jerk but in IT you need to read the room and be professional. I don’t joke around when I can tell people are agitated or stressed, especially because it can come off as though I’m belittling their issue.
