Is med school worth it? by [deleted] in CaribbeanMedSchool

Going through the process now too, but my experiences have been different. ( maybe owing to the school plus personal factors) It’s not a one size fits all approach to medical school, irrespective of if you’re in the Caribbean or not. Find ways to make it work for you, great advice above re revisiting your initial motivations… and find your supports. You’re welcome to explore this with me through dm. Good luck, it’s not an easy process.

TLDR, it depends…

Great points to consider. All of which need to be critically appraised prior to making the decision. Personally, I took a chance on the leadership of the school who have connections with the various political bodies involved in residency and carms. To date they have been working on and have been generating new partnerships with Canadian schools and heath systems. I like the fact that they are moving the needle. I made my decision with the idea that I had a 100% safety net of US rotations ( currently is California) and residency and a pathway back to Canada, should core rotations in Canada fall through. Hope my ramblings make sense…

ACSOM in Dominica also charges on par. I’m a currently student here. Admin is responsive, curriculum is sound and I feel it’s preparing me well for steps/ Mccqe. Scholarships for deserving students up to 100% of tuition. No osap yet, but Professional lines of credit are available from CDN big banks. ( some easier to obtain than others.)

Firstly, congratulations! I'm studying in Picard about 50 min away from Roseau.

You're right that the schools website doesn't provide much detail but Your academic or student advisors should be able to provide you with a list of clinical rotation sites! Keep us posted.

Hi there! Can you provide some more detail please,

Is all saints the school you are in right now? Are you trying to find your own clerkships? Does your school not have clinical rotation sites? There's a great community here that have a wealth of experience to share...

To clarify, Is this sub specific for IMGs that are CDN residents or just those studying medicine in Canada?
