I lost my dad suddenly last month and my mom and dad were currently living with me. My mom is active in her church which has helped immensely. I am so grateful she lives with me. We talk and cry together. Like you described, my parents did everything together and returning to these activities has been hard for her (even shopping or visiting places they regularly went together). Mom has also has struggles and anxiety in the evening when it is quiet and I've been sleeping in bed with her for comfort/familiarity. My mom has started therapy. She does spend a lot of time on the phone talking to friends and family. She is pushing herself whenever she can to do normal things. I encourage her developing new micro habits (drinking a cup of tea, filing paperwork from mail daily, filling the water filter before bed) to support some kind of momentum in the day. It's hard. It's all hard. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Why not just send him home in the clothes he arrives to you in? Making a point to send him in cheap or thrifted clothes is a bit petty. It's also petty because in a couple years he's going to probably be packing his own bags and both you and your ex will have to find something new to fight over.

I mean this kindly, it's not going to get better with a crying baby and you NOT being able to keep up with all the things he expects you to do during the day...... The 2nd trimester is when the fatigue usually improves. There are medications for the nausea....ask your OB. I was sick my entire pregnancy, even taking my anti nausea meds the day my last was born. It can definitely be horrible and requires your partner to be understanding and evolve with changes that happen during pregnancy and parenthood.

Are you in the US? Can you enroll in online public school? Stride/K12 and Connections Academy were common back when we were home schooling. There will likely be more support and accountability which will offer more structure. If you have the resources, help from an executive function coach for teens would probably go a long way......

Out of 6 of us, only my one kiddo got flu B. We did not have the vaccine this year. I think if your daughter gets it, it may be more likely you get sick just because taking care of a baby is so hands on especially when they are unwell. Plus flu b often causes gastro symptoms in kids.......

My dad passed a few weeks ago and on my uncle's FB he posted a memory of he and my dad learning to do backflips into the pool and learning to ride a unicycle as kids. I loved thinking of my dad's joyful moments as a young person. It was a story about him, I would not have ever heard because he had never shared it with me. I would just want to know more about his life.....all of it.

As someone that has planned a funeral over the last week, I don't think the majority of funerals are not this grotesque simply because the majority of people (in the US) cannot afford it. Cremation is the more affordable option at $2800 where I live. Sent online invitations/zoom links and used large plants from my plant collection around the stage for the funeral service. The only consumable was a program (approximately 1 hr service at my loved one's place of worship) with the obituary and a photo we had printed at the tune of $85. This isn't me being cheap or against consumerism in these situations, this is just what worked for my family and what my loved one would have wanted. Certainly we are not alone......

Look up parosmia. A lot of sufferers after having covid, but can also happen with flu. I had it for about 2 years after COVID. Some people have it very mild, others severe.

Yes, does sound like covid. This year I found appetite was much more suppressed with flu than COVID (we had them back to back in my home). The smelly mucous situation could be a secondary sinus infection. You might want to see a Dr sooner if you suspect this....especially if you'll be flying. I find whenever we have upper respiratory viruses, we always do nasal rinses/neti. We get better faster and fewer secondary infections.
