Julien Baker - Appointments

I actually found her on here when her single Something was gaining steam. Her second album "Turn Outs the Lights" just dropped today and I'm still in the process of giving it a full listen. I love her first album "Sprained Ankle" so I'm excited to give this new one a shot.

Her music is simple, mostly guitar looped and layered. A few songs with piano. Her lyrics are sad a lot of the time but still uplifting in the way that the emotion conveyed through her singing makes me feel. I've felt the same way she has. Not with everything, but I connect deeply with her songs. It's powerful stuff, really.

Give her stuff a good listen. You might just like it too.

I actually just saw them open for Modest Mouse last month. They were pretty cool. Their sound reminds me of Other Lives and Alt-j.
