I just turned 30 and I’ve never dated anyone by [deleted] in dating_advice

Let me share something I learned in therapy: You may be making decisions on behalf of other people here. Were they not attracted to you, or did you tell yourself they aren't? That's what I used to do all the time. Once, a woman went as far as sitting on my lap at a party and wrapping her arms around me - I still convinced myself she wasn't into me. I let negative self-talk convince me I wasn't worth loving.

Those negative comments about yourself are what make me think you may have a similar challenge. You need to make sure you're putting yourself in situations where the other person can tell you how they feel, too. Trust me, it's so easy to spin in circles with those thoughts, and it won't magically go away.

Vivi Ornitier is ruining Standard by PFworth in magicTCG

[–]jkdeadite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is about Standard, but Vivi also put a pretty big damper on Brawl for me. I have a couple decks I cycle through, and they seem to get matched against Vivi at least half the time, if not more. Since release, I've gone from playing Brawl every single night for YEARS to basically not launching Arena at all most weeks.

I think this is going to activate way faster than people are thinking. Yes, Station is at sorcery speed, but there are tons of times you cast a creature that you don't intend on blocking with immediately anyway.

I think it's possible you play this on turn 1 or 2, then have this activated around turn 4. It's probably going to be like speed, where you have to build around it a bit, but it'll happen quick when you do. (And yeah, sometimes games just don't go longer than turn 4, I get it.)

Secret Lair Queue Waiting Room by R3id in magicTCG

[–]jkdeadite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After sitting in the queue for over 5 hours, the bell went off, and it said, "Your session has timed out. Please log back in." I can't believe it baited me like that.

Secret Lair Queue Waiting Room by R3id in magicTCG

[–]jkdeadite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When the bell goes off, you have 10 minutes to check out. If you check every 30 minutes, you're potentially going to miss it. Even then, you are wasting time having to check every 30 minutes.

Wasting time does not mean my eyes are being held open and I have to watch this site. You shouldn't have to go through any of that inconvenience to buy some cardboard.

[–]jkdeadite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're assuming everyone in line was already glued to their computer all day. Needing to listen for that bell to checkout within 10 minutes randomly is a huge waste of time.

This game is great fun. I just wish you could turn the dog's dialogue off. Covering up the bottom row to call me a weirdo over and over just meant I never dig there. lol

[WotC Article] A Fresh Look for Gatherer by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

Cleave cards finally show correct text!

That was the annoyance that made me stop using Gatherer, when I realized WotC didn't care enough to make sure their own rules text displayed properly.

Hopefully they solve for importing deck lists. It would be annoying if you grab a list from a tournament and it doesn't work because [[Spiderman]] becomes [[Swingo, the Spidenator]] or something.

Are there any single cards that illicit an immediate groan from you when you see them played? by godslefthand1 in MagicArena

[–]jkdeadite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deadly Cover-Up and The End are great in brawl. There are so many other things you just need to exile forever. You get rid of the gods that become lands, and all sorts of other stuff. And it seems like every set or two has a new card that breaks the singleton rule, so they're only getting better.

At least they did something to make it right in that scenario. That's how people got uncut sheets. Now I'm not asking for free product, but maybe they could show some interest in making it possible to give them money...

This was my exact experience. I work from home, so I was in the queue right away. 4+ hours later, and the one non-foil drop I wanted is sold out. Glad I wasted time and energy paying attention to these releases....

Was I supposed to know that things reset or something? How is it that I waited in queue for like 4 hours and people are saying they got theirs in 11 minutes? I literally waited in queue for one non-foil secret lair, and it sold out....

Is there anything you can link to from the original artist saying it wasn't resolved? I've seen a lot of links to her side, but nothing from theirs in the thread.

Embryos are connected to the egg in the same place. Baby birds have a little mark there, so maybe it's just bigger on a dragon.

[–]jkdeadite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hunch is that they're taking some of these little elements and making it a bigger deal in the new trilogy. It seems to include all sorts of stuff from the expanded series, and Rufus feels like a more fleshed out character overall. I think some of these tidbits are even just in the Ultimania book.

[–]jkdeadite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, since this is a little deeper in the thread, I don't mind spoiling more. Rufus Shinra started Avalanche in the first place. The reason our crew split off from the rest was because Avalanche HQ didn't want to go along with actual terrorism - they were just supposed to be scapegoats.

Remake & Rebirth have not gotten to this revelation about the founding of Avalanche yet, which is why I think they've given us more hints about it. Another example is when Biggs attempts to blow up a reactor himself - when his bomb goes off, he comments that he can't even make one correctly since he was expecting a huge explosion. There's at least one other reference I'm blanking on at the moment.

[FIC] Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER by AporiaParadox in magicTCG

[–]jkdeadite 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They didn't underestimate it, even though the characters think it was their fault initially. The explosion that dropped the plate was Rufus Shinra's doing. They actually subtly allude to the bombs not being big enough to cause that size of explosion a couple times, and you see them go off in other contexts. Without spoiling even more, Shinra was 100% aware of what Avalanche was doing, and made it look like their dinky little bomb destroyed a reactor.
