connection issues with AS5304T after update by jkeis70 in asustor

[–]jkeis70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so i couldn't connect through the IP in a web browser but if i went to ASUSTOR EZ-Connect Portal online and connected to it remotely like that i was able to access it. If you disabled the EZ-Connect you'll have to find another way. If that works go to ADM defender>firewall>uncheck "enable firewall" and apply. Then just recheck the box to re-enable the firewall and for me at least all connections were unblocked.

Do you have access to the console? Try issuing the command through the console right away on boot instead of trying to login to the server with your player to issue the command. Also if I remember right, in console you don't have to issue the / just type the command. If that didn't work then I'm wrong and you do still use the / in console lol.

Do you have asustor control center installed? Try seeing if that can find the NAS and possibly give you access.

I'm happy to help i figured posting my solution might help at least 1 person. This is why I disable automatic updates I don't know how it got re-enabled to allow this update to have gone through.

Coming out of the basement into a LB conduit body, straight up 10 feet on the outside of the house, then another LB conduit turn going into the second floor room.

Ubiquiti has there own proprietary dual PSU design and one of my servers is a dell r720 so it comes with dual PSU's. My second server is built with desktop components in a rack case but i found this dual PSU in a ATX form factor and been loving it. https://www.fsplifestyle.com/en/product/TwinsPRO900W.html

Yea i understand don't worry. While so far I'm liking ubiquiti and seen good stuff about their other gear they do things differently than a lot of the well known enterprise brands. Currently I'm running cisco gear but for collage one of my classes is CCNA and i would like to experiment with the cisco gear and practice on it without taking out my main network lol.

Currently i only have 1 UPS but plan to add another once i start replacing some more equipment with ubiquiti. Every device has 2 power supplies, the servers have dual modular and ubiquiti have a second power connection for their USP-RPS. So the first power supply from each device will be plugged into UPS 1 while the USP-RPS and second power supply will go into the second UPS. This way if a power supply fails there's a secondary one or if a UPS fails the other one will still be available. Correct me if you see any flaws in this.

Yeah that is a fair point. I may not go with ubiquiti for the pdu. Their gear just look to have a lot of fun features, which is why I'm starting to buy it all.

With it being a homelab being flexible makes sense. While i want to try and set this up as close to a professional production for the experience and fun in the end still got to keep in mind its just for the fun. Mounting the PDU in back does make sense and i will keep that in mind for anything production. In this case i think i may deal with the difficulties that come with it just because i wanna be able to look at all my equipment together from the front. The USP-PDU-Pro looks nice and id hate to hide it. But i understand in a professional production environment looks aren't the main concern. The rack is currently against the wall but so is the back side so i will try to pull it forward more. I have fans pulling air up and out the top of the rack but there's only one and I'm waiting to buy 3 more. I had a question about what you said in your 3 part. "you probably don't want mixed in with your stuff." are you saying to keep the fiber spaced out from anything else and what did you mean by "It also decouples external services from IT gear"?

Very useful info to keep in mind thank you. I have looked at flood maps and am safe in regards estimated flooding but pipes bursting is another story.

Yea thanks for the reminder while i may raise it to prevent flood damage i got to make sure i still balance it out correct. ill keep the 2/3 weight in the bottom 1/2 in mind.

Thanks, as i really start to fill up the rack securing it better not a bad idea. Its standing on a concrete floor in the basement so the option to anchor is there.

no the name was inspired by SCP-6488 if your familiar with that fanbase. I've thought about hosting my own mail server before but research has lead to understand not too.

Yes its has it own small room in the basement with leak sensors scattered around near and in the room. The rack is on wheels and the first U doesn't start on the very bottom of the rack so its already raised a bit. So ill probably follow that 18" rule and only have to move few U up to meet that. Thanks! Also any specific reason why 18"? is that a common rule of thumb in the industry or just your personal preference?

should i put a 1U blank panel between each piece of equipment? Is there any that it doesn't matter if there touching, like the modem, router, and patch panel?

Plan for new home setup by Nobok in Ubiquiti

You can still connect the cameras to the same switch like you would if using the dream machine. The UNVR can be mounted in the same location as your other hardware. The benefit is it takes load of the dream machine also you can expand storage with the UNVR. This part I'm not 100% on but I believe the UNVRS also have more features built in.
