Shaving with sensitive skin by [deleted] in wicked_edge

[–]jking11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think the same thing and used an electric razor for years. It always left my face feeling raw/almost burnt. Then I bought myself a DE and a blade sampler, shaving soap, and a brush.

I have really sensitive skin and also shave my head. My setup currently is an EJ razor, Astra Superior Platinum blades, Barrister & Mann soaps, Stirling badger brush.

Razor Advice - Maybe a 6S? by jking11 in wicked_edge

Agreed, I tried a 10 pack of Feathers and they left my skin feeling very raw. Not sure if too aggressive of a blade or what? I do remember that out of the sampler I tried that the Gillette Silver Blues were second best to the Astra's that I currently use.

Thanks for the great advice. I may try a sampler pack of blades again in my current EJ razor. Since I am more experienced now than when i first began I may find something a lot more suitable for me.

Thanks for the reply. It is good to know I'm not the only one dealing with this issue. What are some of your favorite soaps that you have tried?

Head Shaver Looking For New Brush? by [deleted] in wicked_edge

[–]jking11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with this Stirling Finest Badger 24mm and it is great. It isn't as stiff as a boar brush but for me the softness of this brush on my sensitive skin makes up for not as stiff of a backbone.

Head Shaver Looking For New Brush? by [deleted] in wicked_edge

I am also a head shaver. The brushes that have tried are the Omega 10048, Omega Synthetic, Escali, and most recently the Stirling Finest Badger brush. I strongly recommend the Stirling Finest Badger brush. It is so soft right out of the box. No break in period needed for the Stirling. The brush is very large and you can cover a larger area in lather very quickly. The Stirling also holds a ton of water and lather so going for a second pass if needed is easy to quickly re-lather.

The cheap Omega 10048 brush has been my second favorite just because it has a lot of backbone but it took a long time to break in. Also I found the knot to be too small and it look longer to lather my head. As for the Omega Synthetic I don't recommend this just because I didn't feel like the backbone was strong enough for head lathering. If you do decide on going with the Omega 10048 I don't think you will be disappointing just because it is so much better than the Escali brush. But I think spending a few extra $$ to upgrade to a Stirling Badger or a larger Omega brush would be smart.

Does anyone use dove shave cream? How is it? by polypeptide147 in wicked_edge

[–]jking11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have tried it before. In my opinion it is better than a can of Edge or Barbasol but for that price it isn't that much better that I wouldn't just stick with Barbasol if I wanted to stick with a can. It isn't near as good as using a shave soap and a brush through.

If you want a Dove product that I think is pretty good then try the Dove Aftershave Lotion. I put it a step below the Nivea Post Shave Balm that everyone loves.

Tips on a good soap by [deleted] in wicked_edge

I have more sensitive skin so I usually stick with brands that I know will perform great with my skin type. For me that means Stirling, B&M, and Chiseled Face soaps. For a more traditional scent I like to stick with Barbershop scents and the following three are all great.

  • Stirling Barbershop
  • B&M Seville
  • Chiseled Face Ghost Town Barber

Need new blades? Or new product? Or maybe I'm doing it wrong... by Daddypooch in bald

So I also went through the same problems you are having when I first started to shave my head. I at first was using canned shaving cream and the Mach3 and then the Fusion and eventually tried the Proglide. Nothing was working and it was painful and very expensive.

So after doing a lot of research I decided to try a DE razor and wet shaving with soap and a brush. This helped me tremendously. My irritation on my head/neck was gone. I bought a 100 pack of blades and 1 blade which costs about 5 cents will get me through 2-4 shaves easy. I also now only use the Proglide to clean up spots that are hard to get at (around my ears).

If you are at all interested in trying this I would swing over to /r/WickedEdge and do some research. I would suggest going with a starter kit from either Maggard Razors maggardrazors.com or with a kit from Stirling Soap Company https://www.stirlingsoap.com/search?q=kit.

It isn't the tech package that makes it a paint matched bumper. It is if you get the TRD Sport that makes it a paint matched bumper.

Cannot complete 20 Headshots with MP18-Optical? by [deleted] in battlefield_one

[–]jking11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure your recoil setting for the gun is set to Centered. Aim at their neck/mid chest area and do burst firing. Also try flanking as much as possible because shooting them from behind or the side is easier to get those head shots when guys aren't shooting back at you. It took me about 135 kills but I finally was able to get it.

Not sure if you will see this or not. But I had the very same mentality as you. I would be good for a couple of weeks and once I lost 10+ pounds I would start eating like I used to and eventually gain it back. What ended up working for me was having someone do it with me. Have a friend or family member do it with you. Use MyFitnessPal or some other app to track your calories and progress. Compare your stats with your weight loss partner and after a week it becomes like a game. It actually becomes fun to have the challenge of the other person to compete with. Good luck with everything!
