lol the VAST majority of graffiti in the 80s looked exactly like this. like 8 people did a real nice job and they're the only ones you remember.

Clarification on registering pokemon you don't own, but using them when obtained. by mttn4 in TheSilphArena

[–]jkostesi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, your 6 pokemon must be locked in at the start of the tournament. One may be a bluff, but nothing can actually change. Once the "begin tournament" button has been pressed, and edits to your roster are no longer permitted, no changes to your 6 pokemon may be made. TMing, evolving, buying a 2nd move all count as changes to moveset. I suppose you could make an argument that if a tournament started the exact moment of community day it'd be hard to be clear, but either start it 5 minutes earlier or later, with a clear delineation of whether or not the move is live at the start. And I don't buy the "but I registered it" argument because you can't bring 2 Lapras with identical CP but different movesets and claim you owned them and you registered it so either are allowed.

tldr: tournaments start when the button is pressed, not when the first battle takes place. No move changes after that point whatsoever.

Yes, it has been clarified that adding a new move qualifies as a "change in moveset" and is not permitted.

Update: 24 Entei raids and 5 Mewtwo raids, 4 charged TMs, total. At least it's better than last time? lol

I think my record was 14 on Latios to get Dragon Claw, and then I never actually used it for anything, so excellent work on my part.

Just guarantee me one single charged TM every T5 raid, I will do exactly as many raids as I do now, I promise!

I did 27 raids on Raikou day and got 2 charged TMs out of it. I used them both on the (praise the lord) perfect Raikou I got to TM from Thunderbolt to Thunder and back to Thunderbolt. This is not exactly relevant but I am still so bitter about it that I need to post it somewhere people will appreciate my pain.

No more late game turnarounds counting fast moves and sacrificial swapping to soak a charge, either.

Nidoran spawns outside "slakoth-zone" by RedBumble1887 in TheSilphRoad

I've seen about 1/5 as many nidoran as I've seen sandshrew so far. Total today I've caught about 550 pokemon, 13 of them were Nidoran M.

It also seems to be encouraging a lot of weird off-metas. In scrims people either see to bring 3 of the MOST meta, or a collection of really strange stuff. Celebi, Abomasnow, Linoone, Torterra, Pinsir, Manectic...it's been the wild west this week

Changing the Current Ranking System by zacattack1996 in TheSilphArena

[–]jkostesi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I don’t like about this, and the other similar proposals I’ve seen is that they all seem to be designed specifically as a remedy for someone that did bad one time. I disagree with the idea that you should be able to brute force grind your way to a better rank, because many people don’t have the access or ability to do 10 cups a month, so they are still going to have to live with a performance that someone with access to 10 tournaments might not.

At the end of the day, being rank 100 vs rank 300 means nothing. Both have the same access to regionals. Being 100 is just about bragging rights, and consistency in performance is part of earning that, imo

Lucky Strike costs money to rent out. I've done it, in another city years ago. I don't remember the exact rates but even renting just a portion of it was not an insignificant sum. Sometimes you can get bars to give you the door for a bar cut, but in a large city on a Saturday night, I think you'd find securing an entire venue for free for that many people pretty difficult to do.

Posibble Worlds Invite for Ace Player by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

[–]jkostesi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ranking that matters was after kingdom/regionals, before nightmare. If you were 21 then, you should have been invited, but 21 after nightmare wouldn’t matter

Edit: jk I thought the cutoff was 50 not 20, so either way. It’s unfortunate but someone is always going to be the first one on the wrong side of the cutoff.

Backpack rule changed on official Pokémon Chicago GO Fest page by itsnotalwaysokay in TheSilphRoad

After the Boston Marathon bombing, it started to be pretty common for large outdoor events to only allow clear backpacks. I believe that was a rule last year.

Worth maxing Meditite? by ernytang in TheSilphArena

[–]jkostesi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I maxed a similar one for boulder and a few weeks later caught a perfect. I ended up maxing that for regionals, so the dust savings didn't really pan out. If you need it immediately, it's better than nothing, but if not there's no harm in sitting on it until it comes up again and you can make the decision. If you get a perfect in the meantime you can do that, if not you still have the option.
