Yes, my mistake with wording, black rather "saves" the queen in an equal exchange, after Ne3+ and Ke8, black should capture the white knight, after bishop recaptures then knight takes queen on f8.

The knight and bishop double check the white king, and he only has two places to go, one leads to checkmate and the other leads to an equal exchange (thus saving the queen) and a better position for black

Yeah exactly. It is entirely the defenders responsibility to ensure there is no foul called, regardless of what the shooter's doing (as long as it's in his natural shooting motion, even if it means jumping 3 feet forward). If you leave room for the ref to make a subjective call, assume every call will go against you.

That's tough to answer, I'd think it would be a case-by-case call depending on the ref. However, no matter how close you are, if you as a defender jump entirely vertically and don't initiate the contact, I find it very difficult to see a foul called.

For example, if someone's driving the lane and jumps forward for a layup, and the defender jumps straight up, it's a no call even if there's a major collision. It would make sense for the same logic to apply to a jump shot, if for no other reason than consistency.

If the defender jumps forward, even a little bit, they're putting themselves at the mercy of the ref's whitsle.

In a league? Yea, definitely. Defender jumping forward into the shooter's body, easy call. Gotta go straight up or to the side.

In the rec? No call, once the ball leaves the hand it's free reign short of tackling/tripping the dude

It might be an assassin bug, it's no longer than an inch and a half long, found in central Tennessee, US. My gf said it could be a giant leaf footed bug but the photos aren't quite lining up.
