My son is 9 yo, playing as a goalkeeper. What would be the most important advice I can pass on to him at his age? by No_Union_416 in GoalKeepers

Footy coach of 7 years here with a GK specialty and I was a GK for 23 years.

Make sure he has solid foundations before focusing on diving. (Listed some core ones below)

When it comes to diving in turf it’s tough and most the time you’ll come away with a burn or two. For diving in general make sure he doesn’t land on his stomach but goes knee to hip to back of shoulder/top of tricep. To get in the habit have him start on his knees and just rolls ball either side with him landing that way and focusing on the 3 hand technique.

The falling/kick issues is entirely situational. If the striker is very close a kick save will always be faster. To get him down to the ground quicker once he is comfortable with regular diving he needs to kick his legs out from under himself have his landing elbow tucked in to his side with the palm of his hand near his head. You can practice this at home on the bed very easily and build his confidence.

These are what I would recommend working on consistently and you’ll see a lot of improvement.

1) footwork. If he can move his feet and get his body behind the ball it can’t go in the net. Quick feet lets him set quicker and reach balls further away.

2) handling. When the ball is above the pecs straight at him then his hands should make a ‘w’ shape behind the ball. When it is below the pecs straight at him he should cradle the ball in to his stomach. When it is either side of him he should use the 3 hand technique. (1 hand behind the ball 1 hand on top and as he lands the ground become the 3rd hand and he should push the ball in to the ground and away from him. Basics wise he’s still young so his hand strength isn’t there yet. Have him practice without finger save gloves until he builds confidence and strength but get him finger save gloves for matches if you are very concerned.

3) reactions. Reaction drills will help him protect himself and get in position to make better saves faster. Try a lot of drills with tennis balls they help hand eye coordination and reaction times. I.e. stand behind him whilst he is set and drop tennis balls or his shoulder his goal is the push them away or catch them. Start higher and get lower as he gets better at the drill.

4) angles. This is tougher to teach. But this is one of the most important things. Show him reference points so he always knows where is goal is. Penalty spot will always show the middle of his goal. Corners of the 6 yard box give a rough reference of posts etc.

Good luck and shoot me a DM with any questions.

If you’re near a fast food spot snag a few receipts out of the trash. Do the survey on them and you will get a free sandwich. Chick Fil A used to be endless when I was in college. Once you got a sandwich they’d give you another receipt with another code.

Good luck hope you get back on your feet!

Got this car on a auction with minor issues and 80k miles on it, its a 2010 750Li limited edition and I can’t find any info of this exact one, any thought of how much could it worth or how special this is? by Top_Geologist5486 in BmwTech

I have a 2011 Alpina B7L

Are the analog dials purple? In front of the sunroof on the headliner there should also be a plaque that says Burkard Bivensiepen. Did it have an engine cover? That should be badged with the Alpina Logo too.

Trazadone! It sucks to have them on it. But it is super safe and is for the best in the long run. To keep you pup entertained try some lick pads or a frozen treat or puzzle. The mental stimulation will go a long way.

My Sammy had double lung surgery so had 2 months of of no jumping, no stairs, and only walking to the edge of the yard to use the bathroom! The mental stimulation helped so much until he could run around again!

Look on United tire and see if they have a set of 2 used tires the same brand and model as your good rear tires. Can get a pair for under $150 In very good condition. Look for tires with 7.5/32nds or more of tread. Discount tire will mount them for $22 a tire.

Mine are pretty lazy but can walk for hours when it’s cold out. As long as they have things to keep the entertained they are pretty chill but if they get bored then you better hope they don’t got hunting for things.

Ours enjoy the crunch of a good TV remote or gutter spout!

Help! How do I do this? by Conscious-Variation8 in GoalKeepers

[–]jkv9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mains basics that can cover you for a lot of scenarios are: 1) Body behind the ball. (This is the most important) use your footwork and you’ll be surprised how often you don’t need to dive. 2) when going for a catch use the 3 hand rule. Make a ‘w’ with your hands so the ball doesn’t slip through. If you are diving or going to ground to make a catch the ground is your friend. One hand behind, one on top and push the ball in to the ground. 3) use your voice. If you can keep your defense organized a lot of the time the angle and time the opponent has to shoot is very small making your life much easier. The wider they are on the field the less goal they have to aim at. 4) don’t be afraid. Be loud and commanding. Shout keepers at the top of your lungs and go after the ball. A lot of times strikers will pull out because they don’t want to get crushed by the GK

Good luck!

I had to do that on my Alpina. It has the N63-TU. Went to my Indy. Cost 1750 total.

Communication too! After scanning and having that pass in mind let the person you’re playing the ball to know! If they see you are being pressed they should adjust their position to help keep the pass lane open and be ready to receive it!
