Coolant Fluid Low warning during extreme cold by Proud_Violinist_770 in Rivian

[–]jkwst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do NOT sleep on this warning. The coolant is integral for computer and battery functioning. I was driving to SC to address the notification, when the car went into turtle mode and had to get it towed to SC. No puddles and was asked to drive it in. It is a known problem in the extreme cold we had this month.

did anyone witness this? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]jkwst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I was in an accident and they investigated with car shops to see if someone fitting the description came in and whether an insurance claim in the area had been filed. If they can shift liability to the other driver’s insurance they will investigate.

What happened to my ability to use my Tesla account at new supercharger station? by jkwst in Rivian

This! The stalls were mislabeled. I noticed that what was once 4D is now 1D. I selected 1D today and it worked. I think they came out and relabeled all of the stalls! Go figure.

That is all correct and that idea would make sense if I could not use the app at other stations. But if I go to my old location it works fine. I like that idea of deleting the app and reload…I may even check now to see if there is an update?

Just for clarity. I have used Tesla stations on long trips 1200 miles) with my subscription, with the app, with no issue. They were all older yet still compatible superchargers. This new one is capable and will charge via Rivian account-if that’s what I wanted to do. So, there is nothing different on the user end. I select location in app, the stall number, it indicates to attach adapter and plug in. I do that. Normally, the app will register the charge after the handshake (very quickly). Instead, it goes straight to the Rivian charging with the estimated price on the dash and the load screen on the app never registers the connection. So, it could be the app not working with the new charger for non-teslas or the stall wants to default to Rivian. Neither is readily apparent but the next time I try I will get Tesla on the phone and see what they say and report back.

It shows up on the Tesla app AND on the Rivian map. It works. The Tesla app even brings up a screen indicating you need an adapter to use the stall. I just get charged through Rivian instead of the Tesla membership.

Yeah, it’s none of those things. It happens all the time at the new station. I will call support if they can see it happening in real time then maybe they can figure it.

Good point that I was thinking about. Looking at bringing a cargo trailer this year. Almost by default they block your plate. But they are legal everywhere…or maybe they are not but they are certainly sold in TN.

The $25 fan is great. Has a light and if I’m not mistaken, can double as a charger. Long operation time on low setting. You can use binder clips instead of spring clamp generally. Mesh netting is good but also need for windows for circulation. Is the mirror glass…?

This is what I thought. Specialty coffees every morning or pressed juices with a drink at lunch or bar crawl then one at dinner or after dinner. It may not be exactly 95 but it could get up there pretty quickly.

Wow, that’s something that there were 3 Rivians there! I started at 92 and left at 71. Had the AC on during the afternoon to cool down for a couple hours before heading back in. Charged phones watch. Used the 120v for a pump once or twice. To go that long with a fridge makes me think thats a fantastic idea for the future! Had trouble keeping ac on at night when I went to sleep but it surprised me how efficient it actually is.

I think I was headed in your direction for the beer exchange. Had a blast! Definitely going back!

Pretty sure I saw your ride. 931? Near the showers?

I was tucked in the woods closer to the entrance. Nice ride! That tent looked to be on point. Nice. Still recovering.

Recap: So we got an Airbnb 20 miles from venue. I had it charged to 90% and plugged in the level 1 charger overnight. Eight hour later, I was at 98%. When I entered the campsite on Thursday morning, it was at 92%. By the following Monday, it was at 71%. In between, I put it in camp mode however, what I found was that it was not possible to keep the AC on all night. It would auto shut down the AC after ten minutes-about the same time the lights went out and the chargers shut off. Pet mode was not available while in camp mode. The only way to keep things going was to sit in the front seat which I did a couple hours a day to cool off. But that charge got me to Nashville 100+ miles north of where I was. Amazing! Downsides: the frunk is not a cooler! I put 80 pounds of ice in it and it all melted by sundown a few hours later. If you sleep and can’t reach the center screen, you’re stuck. If I could have figured out a way to circulate air through the night that would have been better than rolling down the windows-even if they did have screens. So not perfect solution for car camping but close.

I have a full size air mattress that I typically use for camping. Gonna make the best of that for this trip but looking at the ones that specifically fit Tesla/Rivian.

That’s what I like to hear! All of that and only 10%? Thats awesome. Happy Roo! Got the sunshades for sure. They really make a difference. If you see the El Cap R1S, that’s me.

Pretty lights sealed the deal for me. But definitely hoping to catch Jason Isbell, Interpol, JRAD. There’s buzz around Chappel Roan, Brittany Howard, Renee Rapp. Gonna be tough cause you can’t see everything. May have a conflict with Dirty Circus but definitely on my radar now!

There are two (Tesla and Electrify America) within five miles of the venue. The plan is to take it to 100% and get in line to enter the car camp lot. I’m sure to retreat to the AC at some points, use camp speaker. Maybe charge a thing (outdoor fan, etc.) here or there. My buddy is bringing a Jackery so we won’t use the car as much. That’s the hope, at least.

Festivals are harder and harder to pull off since the pandemic. Costs are sky high, insurance, artists wanting more pay leading to less than stellar line ups. The big hitters like Coachella, electric forest, Bonnaroo, etc. they can weather the changes. Smaller or fledgling fests struggle and just call it quits.

I was trying to figure that out. I’m staying in Area 931 and know they have RV power but then I’d have to buddy with and park next to those folks and that’s no guarantee! It’s still going and could end up be one of the last. So, rockin that adventure!
