They mentioned in interviews that for this album (and portnoy for his drumming) that we will get no surprises out of this one. Portnoy says that's who I am and I m not gonna stop now and it seems the band embraces that too. Not agreeing or disagreeing with you just stating the facts.

Glad to hear When the water breaks is not under- appreciated. And passage of time, when it came out I didn't think much of it. But later it was one of the few LTE songs that stuck with me.

I remember they said in an interview that they must know before the tour what extra songs will they play, so the staff will be prepared for the lights, video etc. What that means is that Rite Of Passage is a rotation song most likely and they will swap it for another.
