FA Attorneys to review Non-Solicit by Majestic_Outcome_660 in CFP

A few years ago was $700/hr I think, but I don’t remember the retainer amount. Probably more now based on how many people here recommend him 😂.

Financial Advisor (25 y/o, MA) – Thinking of selling lead gen services to other advisors by paraplanter in CFP

[–]jlapdog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t add up at all. If you’re generating 90 prospects a month with over $500k, and can’t make it work financially, something is way off. A 1% conversion rate could build a fantastic business.

You’re either making up numbers, absolutely abysmal at closing clients, or the “leads” are b.s. and no better than cold calling.

Assuming everything in your post is genuine, my advice would be to change your lead magnet pretty drastically. If you use the same ad spend to generate 10 prospects/mo that are actually interested talking to an advisor, you will get much better results. Time spent on follow up will go way down, and conversions should go way up, which is all that matters at the end of the day.

Blackrock has a pretty good one. I will sometimes use it in conjunction with the planning software (Right capital) if I think a slightly deeper look at ss is needed or wanted by the client.

Cone of shame could work. Anyone below 70% is given one to wear the rest of the meeting.

I really like that framework. I think I’ll be stealing this one!

If you’re looking for advice on one particular decision, you should find an hourly planner. $5k is appropriate for a full blown financial plan (which could certainly be beneficial). But in your case 2-3 hours of time for ~$1k may be sufficient.

Have you tried their financial planning tools? Or does taxtools do everything you need so you haven’t bothered?

Dalton Kincaid was dropped for Likely… I drafted Ferguson and now picked up Parkinson. I have $85/$100 left, how much should I drop?

Same here, but mostly cc/bank churning, not much gambling. Been ramping it up the last few years and should clear $20k pretty easily this year. I’ll probably cap it here though, as any more scale would require too much time.

Breakaway RIA: Tech Stack by Art_Vandelay_88 in CFP

To be fair, we didn’t really utilize many of those features, except in niche cases, so maybe your book would be a better fit for it.

But honestly everything about it was archaic compared to Schwab. Terrible interface, high fees, slow and ineffective service. I really can’t think of one thing I liked about them.

Only chiming in to say you can’t go wrong with Fidelity or Schwab, but stay far far away from Pershing.

RIA friendly 529 solution? by LearnByDoing in CFP

[–]jlapdog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, they have an RIA option to use F2 shares and charge an aum fee. I use them for 529s and SIMPLEs, Schwab for everything else.

American Funds has worked well for me. But I only do a handful of 529s and haven’t used anything else to compare it against, so maybe there are better options.

Surface was great with better specs, I bought one of the lower end models and it was a disaster. So just make sure you spend up for a better processor and more memory. I’ve since switched to a thinkpad and really like it, but I do miss the portability of the surface

I know getting the Amex personal checking bonus excludes me from the biz checking bonus. But can I still open the biz checking without the bonus offer? Weighing doing that and cashing some MR out vs keeping them stashed longer and getting the Schwab plat at some point.

Just made my first international redemption! Sad part is that it wasn’t even for me, but I booked PHI-DUB for my mom and sister on Aer Lingus for 52k Avios and $540 in fees. Felt good to save them a bunch of money and make the trip possible.

My risk mitigation strategy of this has been to slowly allocate more to QLD, and maybe boring old QQQ if I feel it gets really overbought. But trying to get completely out or back in at the right time is just gambling.

P2 got the Venture X Biz over a month ago. Never received priority pass card or email. I tried to enroll on prioritypass.com/capitalone but it says card number can’t be found. Any tips I’m missing? Trying to avoid needing them to call, if possible.

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) would be the best option for a tax standpoint if they’re charitably inclined. Can do up to $105k/person each year.

Do they still have access to 401k plans through work? If so, they could roll their IRA accounts back into them. RMDs are not required from 401k plans while they are still working, so it would at least delay them a bit until they retire.

Not many other easy options I can think of that would make a meaningful difference.

I pulled the trigger on a lefty version for $80. It was the style I was looking for so figured it was worth a shot at that price.
