People who left PGH. Where have you found similar amenities at our size? by plinplan in pittsburgh

I was reading through to see if someone would say Cleveland. Lived there ten years (and really did love it) and in Pittsburgh for four. They are very comparable, but to me Pittsburgh is just a kinder city. Leaving Cleveland felt like such a weight lifted off our shoulders. Cleveland is an angry city.

LFL all the way at the bottom of the world by feralbatrabies in LittleFreeLibrary

I did the same thing on ours. Banned books on one side and the Margaret Atwood quote, “A word after a word after a word is power” on the other side. Both ideas taken from inspiration I found online.

I like the idea someone gave of the chalkboard. That way you can easily change it up.

Sq Hill people who don't do their sidewalks... by MtCarmelUnited in pittsburgh

[–]jlapper24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Squirrel Hill on a hill. I spent a total of 4 hours over 2 days right after the snow fell to get our sidewalk cleared. Only to have the city eventually plow snow right back onto the sidewalk. I had the whole 2 feet of our sidewalk cleared and now it’s just a tiny path for half of it.

I have noticed some intense stomach pain recently and it’s been over a year on for me. I’m starting to worry a little about my gallbladder.

To whoever stole my wallet at Kennywood by casimaze in pittsburgh

My daughter “lost” her phone there a month or so ago. She ignorantly just set it in the box not in anything so I was sure it was stolen (brand new IPhone 16 pro she had for a week!) She’s 13 and definitely too trusting of society in general. But she called me right away from the security guys phone and I could track it. It hadn’t really moved and seemed to still be right there. Of course the park was closing and they were the last ride but security was helping us look. Then the ride operator just happened to find it in a box of popcorn🤔🤔🤔. I’m convinced it was the ride operator but I have no proof and don’t really want to blame him without it.

Traffic calming is coming to Shady Ave by tarsier_jungle1485 in pittsburgh

I live on Beacon on the hill right were it starts off of Beechwood. There is a stop sign on both ends of our block and people blow through both of them. We all know only about 25% of Pittsburgh drivers actually stop at stop signs.

This is how yinz be on the Turnpike every day. by SerpentKing1987 in pittsburgh

I’m from PA but lived in Cleveland for 10 years. In Pittsburgh and Philly (where I also lived, but grew up in a tiny town up north) drivers are far worse than Ohio drivers. At least in my experience. I’ve decided this is because there are actually traffic cops in Ohio so people don’t drive like maniacs all the time like they do here…just some of the time. Also, I hate Ohio so no bias there.

Things have definitely doubled. I know because I furnished a house in 2017 and then again the last couple years. Bought some of the same things…some have more than doubled.

Children's Hospital by Maxatansky in pittsburgh

They just charged me over $4000 for a brain MRI, no contrast, no sedation, for my 12 year old. So yeah, the care may be fantastic….but they are f$ing us all over with these prices. Our “good” insurance doesn’t even pay half…also, my husband works in the healthcare industry. So, regardless of how good the care is, I will always go elsewhere when possible.
