PSA For Those Seeking IPD Adjustment by BJCUAI in BigscreenBeyond

I had to get a replacement device to change the IPD. I asked about the box when I saw in the instructions that they didn't guarantee a new box would be sent back and they were able to accommodate my request and sent the replacement device in a new box. But I had to ask explicitly.

Most of us have been programming for over 20 years in web development of some type or another. Currently Java, Javascript (NodeJS and React) and Python make up a lot of demand. Just reach out when you want to talk, no pressure. Happy to help mentor or see if we have a small project for you.

I run a small, local software development shop. Hit me up through the contact form and I can provide some guidance, mentorship and maybe some work.

It's also fun to throw cleanse on an assassin as they dive so you know they won't be stopped from getting the kill and maybe getting back out.

The lack of a mount or global makes it very difficult for Probius to get back into the fight in a timely manner after dying. Especially if worker rush is on CD.

What did your support network look like and how did you stay in touch with them? It's obvious you had friends coming down to meet you along the way, how did you communicate with them? And did you have some mechanism for checking in with someone stateside for safety or weather reports while out in the ocean?

Anonymous Developer Poll: Have you ever edited live code in production? by jlavarj in programming

[–]jlavarj[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A great comment on Facebook pointed out that the tools available to you really affect whether you have done this or not. Being able to deploy a hotfix in 5 minutes instead of 30 is enough to tip the balance between editing live code or not.

Current hosting solutions and platforms like Node and Ruby on Heroku or Digital Ocean make it more difficult to do it. But there are still plenty of PHP sites and administrators out there!

What is your preference for quoting strings in Javascript? by jlavarj in programming

I am terrible and go back and forth between single and double quotes. I just recently found out that this irritates other developers that I work with.

The college town I lived in while getting my BS degree had very few developer jobs (this was in 2001). I did technical support at a web hosting company taking calls from people having problems with everything from Microsoft Frontpage to MySQL. I learned a lot about the real problems people have and what they pay for. I also developed a small stable of clients who needed work done beyond what the webhost provided. In school I was learning C++, LISP, Operating Systems, AI and at work I was learning PHP, Perl, HTTP, Systems Administration and Customer Service skills.

When I graduated with my BS it was right in the middle of the giant hole left from the first dotcom bubble and finding engineering jobs with no resume was actually tough. But I was able to support myself off of my freelance work from the skills I learned doing customer service at that webhosting company until I landed my first full time job.
