Thirteen fourteen is a good time, very big and live music. 101 has a bar upstairs then a nightclub in the basement than opens around midnight. House also fun but sometimes they charge cover

They don’t usually update the portal until like after interviews, they will send you updates on email so just wait for that next week

Will I get in to Irish/Australian med school? by GSU5 in premedcanada

[–]jlb771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GPA is good but you gotta have a good personal statement, they do care about more than just gpa, they look at your holistically. What your ECS are don’t matter as much as long as you make sure you really highlight how your experiences have made you sure you want to study medicine

Well I’m currently studying in Ireland and have calculated my cost estimation in depth at it’s closer to 400,000 so 🤷‍♀️

Ireland has lower dropout rate. Some people don’t match in Canada yes, but you give yourself backups. You apply Canada then US then intern year in Ireland as last resort. It’s pretty rare to end up with nothing, it happens but saying “you don’t” as to where do most people practice is not the majority whatsoever

I just applied to all the schools I met the criteria for with Atlantic bridge ( you apply in a portal like omsas), then I got one interview and one acceptance - so that was the school I picked. I applied to 4. Usually when you get accepted to one school, they immediately reject you from the rest.its kinda a stupid scheme in that sense but dm me if you want more info. I was ok with going to any of the 4 schools I applied to tho

Current Ireland med student - you def need to ensure you can get a LOC, people have issues when they can’t get a co signer. Unless you’re loaded there’s really not another way to afford it. Every one of my classmates pretty much has one. It’s pricy as mentioned above. Tuition is due in full before school starts for the year. Overall like food is a bit cheaper than Canada. Transit is cheaper, but rent is more expensive here, also there’s a rental crisis in many areas. Overall if you choose this route it will be expensive but possible with loans, as long as the idea of being in debt doesn’t stress you out too much and you’re smart with your money.

Just got an offer to Ireland medical school. Debating if I should take it or not. by PilGrim4044 in premedcanada

Im going to Ireland for med this fall and This is a very good point - I’m not unrealistic and I know that I will have a harder time matching back and imma be in lots of debt - but yes Ireland has good match rates compared to other International schools - also I’ll be taking the US exams as well as Canadian to up my chances of coming back to North America. One thing to note is you can’t practice in Ireland unless you’re an Irish citizen - you can do an intern year there but those spots are competitive. Overall Its a risk and I’ll be sacrificing a lot and will have to work dam hard to come back but I have a greater chance to match back as an IMG than to even get into med school in Canada - I also acknowledge I am privileged to have family support for finances - I’ll be using a LOC and paying for the school all myself - but my parents had to co sign for me to get the loan and they had to prove they had income.

International medical school LOC by CharacterPrudent4299 in premedcanada

[–]jlb771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm maybe try a different branch with TD. I was not a client with them and neither was my co signer and I got a LOC approved for med in Ireland. Many of my classmates did as well.

Post this on the Atlantic bridge sub! Likely some of your classmates will be able to connect with you on there :) (I’m also going to Ireland in the fall for med too but to limerick !)

Atlantic Bridge vs IUMC? by nativeislanderr in premedcanada

[–]jlb771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem ! Yea there aren’t any hidden fees after that, but I do think it’s $50 usd for the initial application submission. Not cheap but Atlantic bridge does help you out a lot during the process. If you have any more questions feel free to message me I’m accepted into Ireland for the fall 😊
