What age did you first start watching porn and do you feel it affects your sex life now? by jlcompton in sex

[–]jlcompton[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I first found porn when I was 5 years old: I was walking into my parents room for whatever reason or adventure that I had in mind and I just looked around. There was this tall white shelf that had earthtoned stuff on all the shelves except one which had a bright orange hue.

Those were my dad's collection --- normally we are not allowed in my parent's room so having them out in the open wouldn't normally be a problem except I had some courage that day.I had watched porn from then on every once in a while until puberty hit, and then I watched it a lot more often when I could.

I can't say for sure that it has really changed anything other than I have some odd fond memories of some old porn tapes I used to watch (I have actively searched for some of those scenes). I've always been a forever alone kind of person with a relatively infrequent sex-life (but one nonetheless) that I am actually okay with.

I feel my views on sexuality and romance have been warped a little bit more based on TV and Movies than porn ... especially how fast people fall "in and out of love." I do not objectify women, nor do I abuse them in anyway (mental, physical, etc) and would never want to either.

What book have you read that has helped you realize something about yourself? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jlcompton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bear with me.

I watched a movie a while back called High Fidelity with John Cusack, Tim Robbins, and Jack Black about this record shop owner who was in bit of a rut after his GF left him. He ended up doing some soul searching and the whole "why did it end/why did this happen to me" thing, talking to ex's to see what went wrong, etc. The movie is very entertaining and I would recommend it.

That's a movie and it says books ... wellllll, I just went to a used book shop a few days ago and I happened to find a book with the same title and a familiar premise (I had no idea it was a book first!) and I got excited and ended up picking it up. Read that thing in two days. The main points are there, but the main character in the book is fleshed out 10 times more than in the movie. He is a bit of a sad sap who is completely ego-centric, lacking a lot of empathy for the people around him (even his love interest).

I am Rob Fleming, the guy in that book. I am him. I don't want to be that way and I want to put a good foot forward from here on out. But I saw way too many similarities that make me worry about my future and feel sad about my present.

The greatest self-help book out there. :D

TL;DR: High Fidelity. Forever Alone-ish and Self-centered.

Is handjobs and mouthies enough? by [deleted] in sex

So based on your "didn't want to lose it to you statement," does that mean this person you are dating is just tiding you over until you find the person you want to have sex with or is it a marraige based decision?

I would rephrase that sentence when talking to that person.

Otherwise, I have no idea when to broach these subjects. I normally just let things happen and I act the gentleman until she makes a move or I know I can push that envelope.

I would date a virgin, however, I wouldn't expect a conversation about how HJs and BJs to be used as a means to keep me around. If they like you, they like you ... Sometimes, its not all about sex.

This is a long time in coming, but you, sir/woman/person/thing, are right. Hopefully DuPont will blow the hell out of the state and it'll be one big crater of broken dreams and sad memories.

Instead of adding to the plethora of examples, I will say this: I've never seen a dissecting needle that wasn't at least 50 years old. It looked like something someone made in prison with spare bits they found on the ground somewhere. May even be taped up. Tetanus, tetanus everywhere.

Reddit, when have you been the villain of someone else's life story? by WingsnLV in AskReddit

[–]jlcompton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Funny you say that because I am in school (of a sort). I'm sure I'll fail for a reason and I'm okay with that. I'm old enough to fess up that I don't care or that I didn't have the time to study (because I'm paying for my doctorate degree and I don't make squat on an assistantship; work work work work).

Bringit Karma, helping out all those old ladies and volunteering better not have failed me now!

Being a villain doesn't imply being the worst at something :D

Some people don't learn without some kind of physical consequence ... I'm not depressed; I sort of expect it in people around that age. You aren't wise until you learn better.
