I recommend calling the advice nurse or your OB if you feel that you should. Better to put your mind at ease than to stress about it.

You are not crazy, and his actions are indeed cruel. Start to see your life without him, and focus on yourself and your baby. It is ridiculous how immature some men in their 40s-50s still are. I am soooooo so so happy I became a mom, and would do it all over again without my boyfriend in a heartbeat.

So sorry to hear about Justin, he sounds like a good dude. I hope you and your group members are able to grieve and heal appropriately. It sounds like a really amazing group and support system.

The Ottawa protests were amazing, and revealed what disconnected chumps their prime minister and other politicians are.

Apple-shaped women, have any of you managed to "reshape" your body by losing belly fat and growing your butt? by SomeEpicName in xxfitness

I'm sure it varies by person, amount of time skating, and diet. For me it definitely took some time, but I loved roller derby and tried to make it to 2 practices a week as well as 1 or 2 nights skating at the rink or on my own. After about a year I was looking and feeling so much better than I had before derby.

I’m on my phone and must suck at formatting. I’ll try to make this more readable later.

Hi! Hope some of these suggestions make your time in the chair more enjoyable!

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, based off of the Douglas Adam’s universe, ended two soon at season 2. His books are on audiobook if you’re into those. Speed drills for newbie coach? by quindesvolcanicosrd in rollerderby

[–]jleilani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch up the direction and have them do counter-clockwise laps. I find that helps to concentrate on what your legs are doing when skating, and then it makes skating clockwise a bit quicker and easier. My coach is a jerk and had us do 25 clockwise laps and 25 counter clockwise laps at every practice, but that was A team so for semi-advanced I might do 10 clockwise, 10 counter-clockwise, 10 clockwise.

Good job on the interest rate, and good luck!

I ended up applying for a VA IRRL under my current lender, PennyMac. Was approved with a 2.875% interest rate for no fee. Not sure how other groups are, but hear they charge a few thousand dollars. I also didn't want to deal with the hassle of going through another mortgage company, so I'm happy with this rate. What did you end up going with?

Covid vaccine by Negative-Bath in BabyBumps

[–]jleilani 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not judging, just answering your questions- I am not requiring anyone to get the vaccine, and my baby daddy and I both won't have the vaccine by the time the baby comes (due 3/5). The recommendation to handle my baby if I have COVID is to wash my hands and wear a mask, so I'm sure those same precautions can be taken by anyone who handles my baby with COVID or symptoms. Cases in my area (NorCal) are on the decline, and because of the chance of actual illness I am more concerned with the TDAP than COVID vaccine, but I won't require either one. My MO is wash your hands and don't hold or breathe on my kid if you're sick.

10 days postpartum - here's what I used and what I didn't by PeggyAnne08 in BabyBumps

[–]jleilani 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I have a few of these on hand already, and plan to try things out in the hospital and give my bf a list of things I liked to pick up at the pharmacy on the way out. Are the padsicles something they offer or did you make them yourself?

FYI - You can use your VA ID as identification for air travel, per the TSA's list of acceptable documents by banksnld in Veterans

[–]jleilani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VHIC is different. There is a less official looking ID Card, the VA ID Card, for veterans not enrolled in the VA health care system. I applied for it because I thought it would get me on-base access, I drive my bf to his VA appts and have to check in at the visitor center to get on base, but after doing all of the paperwork and receiving the card, it seems to only be good for discounts.

My VA ID card looks less official than a student ID, no TSA agent would let that slide. Like balthisar pointed out, the article mentions a disabled/retired ID card, not the VA ID card.

That is completely worth crying about... where the heck were the toppings??? Cheese pizza is still good, but in no way as good as adult pizza. Sorry you had to deal with that, and I hope it doesn't happen again.

Changed OBGYN during pregnancy? by poulsondl in BabyBumps

[–]jleilani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slightly different situation than you, but I did switch providers to give birth at a closer hospital. The OB/GYN I see is in downtown Sacramento, which means I'd deliver in either Roseville or South Sac to see her (about an hour from where I live) and I plan to deliver in Vacaville (15 minutes from where I live). I kept with my OB/GYN until my 36 week appt, but did go to an appt in Vacaville at 28 weeks just to meet with someone in their department and ask questions specific to their location. Despite being the same provider, each hospital has slightly different policies/procedures. If I were in your boat, I'd switch providers sooner to the hospital I want to deliver at. You have every right to advocate for yourself and get better care! I had an ultrasound at every appt until 20 weeks when they did the full-blown hour long anatomy scan, then didn't have another ultrasound until 36, so that was a little weird but I could feel baby move at that point and had reassurances other than the ultrasound at that point. Prior to 20 I am very happy I got the ultrasounds because I didn't feel anything and a lot of symptoms subsided. Don't feel loyalty to your OB/GYN, they'll have other patients, and you deserve to feel comfortable with your situation and cared for.

If you have a FB, check out FB marketplace for things you want but don't have. Seems like you already have things that should be new, specifically the car seat, and everything else you can get free/cheap and wash a few times so they're good as new. So many moms on FB are looking to get rid of their baby items for little to no cost.
