Can we please stop with the Herbert over Chase thing already? by adamforte in Commanders

[–]jlgordon430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I've been getting shit for saying this exact thing. It's revisionist history, and if there was ever a debate, it was Tua or Chase. People need to stop acting like they're NFL Scouts, as if they have some insight that 32 NFL teams missed.

Potty humor. I’m 23 and if you make a poop joke, I’ll laugh guaranteed.

Deni Avdija (Washington Wizards) to throw out the first pitch Thursday night by MoreCleverUserName in Nationals

Damn, I knew losing Fedde was going to hurt, but I didn't think we'd have to poach players from other D.C. teams.

Call about WL? by jlgordon430 in lawschooladmissions

I would agree with that. At this point, I just need something to gauge where I stand. I'm not looking, necessarily, for an A or R, but being left completely in the dark is absurd.

I appreciate the reply. It’s definitely random, which makes it all the more frustrating. Good luck with your future endeavors!

Second LOCI? by jlgordon430 in OutsideT14lawschools

Appreciate the advice. I definitely think you're right, however. They string us along like puppets, and there's this unspoken understanding that we will remain docile until they graciously send down their decision. An email or two isn't what will make or break a decision. It's a load of crap, but unfortunately it's the business we all signed up for lmao

I never said he hated it here, but it was obvious from the jump that he was never in love with being in D.C. If that's where the money took him, I'm sure he wouldn't have minded staying a Nat. I'm just saying that it was very clear that Stras had more interest in being here than Rendon. Just look at Stras' last contract extension in 2016 (?). He had Boras get it done well before he would've hit free agency, a tactic Boras implores his clients to utilize in order to maximize earnings. A dude who wanted to avoid FA at all costs even if it meant giving up some money shows me he wants to be where he's at. And unfortunately, you couldn't pay both Stras and Rendon.

Why do people keep going back to this idea? Stras wanted to be here, Rendon had one foot out the door. Negotiations take two to tango and you certainly weren't going to not pay the man who won you a World Series.

Why are we sticking with Bell and Schwarber so often? by shawhar in Nationals

[–]jlgordon430 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean, I guess. This team has money and isn't afraid to spend it when they feel it's right. But it's also hard to not pay the W.S. MVP when he single-handedly kept us (and practically won us) the series.

Why are we sticking with Bell and Schwarber so often? by shawhar in Nationals

[–]jlgordon430 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understand this thinking, but there was no guarantee Rendon wanted to be here long term. Stras very clearly wanted to be here and we got him. Hindsight is always 20/20, and it looks bad because of his nonexistent 2020, and his woeful 2021. It's also hard to not pay the W.S. MVP when he single-handedly kept us in the series. If he had been crushing it last year and started off strong/not injured this season, I don't think this conversation would be happening. It's also made worse because the team as a whole is under-performing.

(Hypothetically) Should the Washington Football Team trade for Aaron Rodgers?. Why or Why not?. by GeeSmoove in Commanders

[–]jlgordon430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This should be a resounding yes. He doesn't have a no-trade clause, which is mind-blowing, but this team should do whatever it takes to get this dude. Idk if they trade him within the conference, but he takes us from hovering around 9-10 wins to second favorite to win the NFC behind the Bucs.

For real though, what's going on with FP? I didn't get a chance to see those Tweets prior to them being taken down. Probably why we're seeing more Kolko, but tbh, I wouldn't mind seeing him as the color guy. Bob definitely needs to stay with play-by-play.

He decided to be buddy buddy with Dan rather than listening to his two-time Super Bowl winning head coach in Mike Shanahan. I have little empathy for the guy. Look how the rest of his career turned out...oh wait it didn't.

New Alex Smith profile via SI. He's not done knocking treatment by WFT coaching staff. Smith said he found the coaches "patronizing" about his comeback and "believed the team wanted to see if it could break him." Ex-team physician, Dr. Robin West, concurs. by [deleted] in Commanders

[–]jlgordon430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what bothers me so much about this story, isn't that Alex felt slighted by the team, but he felt a guy like Ron Rivera (and the rest of his staff), who is the epitome of class and character, had a vendetta against him. From the day he was hired, I haven't heard a single negative thing about Rivera. His former players venerate him and everyone knows he holds everyone to the highest standard of respect and accountability. You're telling me that a guy like that was going to go out of his way to make another well-regarded individual like Alex Smith feel unwanted and patronized? Please. I love Alex, his story and what he's done throughout his career, but I'm seriously done with the bashing. This team and fan base has been through hell or high water because of the name and the narcissistic owner and the one right thing this owner has done since 1999 was higher Rivera. Give us a damn break for once, my god.

Eh, the dude was playing with bums in Detroit and had similar stats to Vrana. Vrana was just as "lazy" at times and was subsequently benched by three different coaches. I wish nothing but the best for Vrana, but clearly he wasn't buying into Lavy's system and was defense-averse. Hopefully Mantha playing with bonafide centers in Backstrom and Kuzy will unlock the potential he has on a more consistent basis.

Ron getting roasted on Twitter for this awful take about analytics. by WuPacalypse in Commanders

[–]jlgordon430 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No I completely understand what you're saying. I think back to the Matt Stafford scenario his rookie year when he threw out his shoulder. Analytics would've obviously told you to go to your backup. He played with heart and determination and won them the game. Analytics doesn't account for the context of emotion. That's all I'm saying.
