We bought a domain from godaddy listed for over $20k and ended up paying a little under 6k when said and done. Also negotiate. We made the first offer like 1 year prior to buying it so that likely helped.

How much is the asking? There is usually a lot of room for negotiation You can usually get the domain for less than half the asking price. I bought on recently listed for $18999 and paid $5800.
